Well, to think we forgot to mention that April is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month! While I doubt I could actually make and eat a grilled cheese sandwich every day for the 30 days of April to "celebrate," I'll probably do a couple and post them here later this week. But until then, we'll have to make do with the Top Eight Grilled Cheese Sandwiches in New York, as selected by Grub Street. And don't think they're all fancy schmancy paninis or Thomas Keller's at Bouchon Bakery. There's a diner in there that's got some Kraft going, too.

Grilled cheese sandwiches are one of my favorite things in the entire world. A sublime version I just made for me and my guy--italian white bread with sesame seeds with gruyere and dried apricots that I snipped into slivers in the gooey, kind center.

If I had my pick of restaurants to open that would be what is served. I can eat both, every day of my life. Oh, and every dessert comes with a tall glass of milk.

Those are some expensive grilled cheese sandwiches though in the list.

Thick american sliced deli cheddar cheese on sour dough bread smothered in butter and some thick peppered crispy bacon on the side! Or a bowl of homemade tomato soup topped with fresh slivers of basil........Oh boy............

They take Ciabatta bread (from Acme Breads, next door) and four cheeses (from Cowgirl Creamery down the hall in the Ferry Building)which I can't recall right now, and grill on a Panini press...to die for and absolutely worth the $11.00 they charge!
