Gin Notes: Dancing Spirits Elixirs - Golden Djinn Gin - Private Reserve - Distillers Strength

Dancing Spirits Elixirs Golden Djinn Gin is 62.7% abv. / 125.4 proof. Bottled as a Private Reserve – Distillers Strength Gin, it's uncut by water and strong as sin. Only its exceptional smoothness keeps this incredible powerhouse of a spirit from being overwhelming. In Islamic mythology, the Djinn are fiery spirits, and this is one fiery spirit., but magically tempered with the dancing botanicals.

That's right, this is not your traditional London Dry Gin, but one of those new, super premium, in your face, brash as brass, strong as a super hero, golden gins. It starts as a quintuple distilled dry gin made in the traditional fashion with juniper, coriander, angelica root, and a plethora of other botanicals. Then it is infused with even more botanicals which amp up the aroma and flavor, and gives it a deep, rich gold color. This is one of those rare, difficult to track down, incredible spirits that can change your life with a sip.

As the label says, "A vibrant and bold, golden, old style gin, infused with piney Yugoslavian juniper berries, fragrant Zanzibarian green cardamom pods, smoky Nepalese black cardamom pods, intense Indian turmeric, tart Syrian sumac berries, complex Jamaican allspice, herbaceous Indian celery seed, floral Zanzibarian black peppercorns, sweet Vietnamese cinnamon, fragrant Indonesian nutmeg, floral Indian kala jeera, and pungent Ceylon cloves."

The aroma is subtle at first, but then rapidly runs amok, building in intensity until you feel like you are in a souk in North Africa surrounded by exotic spices piled high as your head. The complexity is overwhelming as you struggle to define the base and tones, wild hints and clues, all coming together in an unusual but lovely perfume. I didn't know if I want to drink it or splash it on me. The scent is guaranteed to drive people wild with its aphrodisiac power. I can just sit and sniff this spirit for hours on end, without even needing to take a sip. This is without doubt the most incredible smelling gin I have ever run across.

The taste is very smooth for such a high test spirit. It is rampant with cardamom, rife with cinnamon, raging with nutmeg, and completely sexy and passionate from the kala jeera and cloves. This is a sipping gin, meant to be served on the rocks to smooth out the big alcohol hit. Golden Djinn is to be enjoyed, no... savored; slowly and with sensuality. This elixir is made for sharing in the company of a lover. As you sip you are aroused and your passions enflamed. You really don't want to waste this powerful potion drinking alone.

I love everything about this gin. The creator is a genius to bring all these rare botanicals together and have them sing and dance with each other into a pure and clean example of gin at it's finest. Even the bottle is strong and solid. Nothing fancy, just a thin, rectangular liter size bottle looking like an oversize pocket flask, holding pure liquid gold and magical spirits.

Sadly, Dancing Spirits Elixirs- Golden Djinn Gin - Private Reserve – Distillers Strength isn't going to be on the shelves of your local purveyor of fine spirits any time soon. No matter how much you beg and plead. The only place you can find it is in my own private collection buried deep in the cellars of Casa Forester. At this time only a few hundred bottles are in existence and I own then all. Every now and then I pull out a few bottles and hand them out to some lucky folks. People who need a little liquid happiness in their bleak lives. Ones who deserve some of this passionate potion to perk up their personality. For all the rest of you, if you wait patiently for a little while then you too may be lucky enough to get a visit from the Golden Djinn. Until then, all I make is all there is. Have a Happy April First everyone, enjoy.
