I admit it. There are times when I rely on fast food. It's usually during times of extreme stress at work, when I'm rushing to the office, so I drive thru McDonald's for an Egg McMuffin and a cup of coffee while on a conference call on my cell and sending emails on my Blackberry. Either that, or I'm driving thru the 24-hour Jack-in-the-Box at 2 AM for a quick-fix sobering burger to help with the hangover I'm sure to have the next morning.
Whatever the case, I feel guilty because fast food, all of it, no matter what because it simply is fast food, is bad for me and my waistline. Right?
Well, mostly right. It can't be all bad if WebMD reports that The Fast Food Diet can help you lose weight. Basically, The Fast Food Diet is a six-week plan for making the best (read "healthiest," not "tastiest") selections from virtually every major fast-food restaurant menu, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks. The guidelines account for 1,500 calories per day, and instruct exercise.
You didn't think you could eat a Big Mac, large fries and Diet Coke three times a day sitting around for six weeks, did you?

I may have to give this diet a try. Why? Well #1, I'm no food snob. #2, I need to decrease my girth as my hobby is baking. It was just yesterday I had a McYogurt and cup of the Fairtrade, organic, Newmans Own coffee that is offered at my local McDonalds (drive-thru) on the way to the office.

I think it's great they are letting people know what is the best option on the fast-food menu...but a fast-food DIET? That's just insane! "Food Snob" or not, if you eat fast-food 24/7 you may not be getting the correct nutrients you need. Just because it's not 1,000 calories doesn't mean it's good for you.

Uh yeah, I agree with "worried"...the biggest thing that stood out to me in that article was the line about the sobering burger at 2am....I'm hoping you've got someone sober driving you...right? Probably not the best thing to put in the article.

Im sure that not all the food at fast food places are all unhealthy. As i thought as i read this is about the Chicken Nugets at MCdonalds, They have tons of protien and tasty and filling with not thousands of calories or fat. Not all fast food places have extreme fattening/ Non nuterious things. Ive been on Wieght watchers for close to two years and i didnt cut out fast food one bit. I just dont think anyone should be eating out for Breakfest, Lunch, and dinner.... ( Oh yea and i have lost over 70 pounds and still eating fast food)

I'd have to agree about the drinking and driving, but it kinda' nice to know that you can eat healthy no matter where you are. You should check out AOL Diet & Fitness' Diets A-Z (http://diets.aol.com/a-z) and AOL Coaches' Diet & Fitness Coaches (http://coaches.aol.com/diet).

FYI, well-intentioned worriers... I believe that's a reference to Paris Hilton's early-morning arrest for drunk driving, where she claimed that all she wanted was a burger after a long night out.

To Glitter Girl and her chicken mcnuggets...just so you know, a four piece has 210 cals, 13 g fat (2.5 sat), only 10 g protien (which isn't much...a butterfinger mcflurry has twice that), and 460 mg of sodium. Not really something that sounds appetizing me.

But getting the burger helps her sober up, so she's NOT drunk driving anymore. Why must you be so judgmental?

I don't think that Sarah J. Gim, the author of this article, means that her morning hangover would be due to alcohol consumption. I think her "hangover" would be due to working 20 hours a day and getting hardly any sleep. I've worked many a long day and have felt as if my head pounding, body aching the next morning was due to lack of sleep. I don't think she was at all referring to alcohol consumption, just a very long day and next to no sleep.

Compared to the drunk driving (clearly not caused by a long day at work, since most people dont get hangovers from work) and driving while on a conference call/emailing, health and her waistline are the least of her worries. I sure wouldnt want to be in the car in front of her on either occasion. On a positive note, if she doesnt hurt herself or someone else, she will lose tons of weight from all the walking she will have to do after she wrecks her car.

Fast food is not good for you at all. Let alone the Standard American Diet. The main reason for fast food is PROFIT. Why would you be a garbage can for this junk? You have meat from thousands of cows mixed together that is freezed by cancer causing agents and manure in it. You have all the antibiotics, RGBH and Hormones that goes in you from the meat. The animal is horrfied and shaking while dying and you are eating the memory locked in the flesh. Meat has no Fiber. Meat is dead tissue so you are eating dead food. It's all GMO. Your Ketchup Has HFCS and other things. Cooking meat releases cancer causing agents. There is scientfic evidance that you don't have to eat meat to get your protein. Your lettuce is contaminated with pestasides and the workers at the fast food don't handle it with care. The workers at fast food resturants are not treated with respect. The bun that you eat at fast food resturants is refined carbs. It's processed. You shouldn't be eating at 2am and sleep. Your liver won't like it. You should be asleep at 2am so your body can do it's detoxfication. You shouldn't be drinking while eating as that casues the ph of the stomach to change and the degistion won't be proper. There is much more info. Do your homework for example search about c reactive proten and glycation and much more.
overfed and Undernourished. It's all in your effort, decision and choice.
