Ben & Jerry's issue voluntary Ice Cream recall

Ben & Jerry's has issued a voluntary nationwide recall on a quarter-million pints of their Country Peach Cobbler Ice Cream due to a discovery that the product contains wheat, an ingredient which is omitted on their labeling.

The product, which is their "peach ice cream with cinnamon-sugar shortbread pieces & a peach swirl" could affect those who have allergies or severe sensitivities to wheat, though apparently no illnesses have yet been reported.

The affected cartons bear the date codes Jan 23, 2008, Jan 24, 2008, Feb 8, 2008, and Feb 9, 2008, which are located on the bottom of the pint. Ben & Jerry's has suggested that anyone who can't consume wheat should discard the ice cream and they will issue a full refund upon the return of the base portion of the pint.

But I guess Ben & Jerry's does have to account for the dummies out there with wheat allergies who lack common sense.
