Will you still buy Peter Pan?

ConAgra has now been dealing with their peanut butter problems, which extend back several years, for a few weeks, doing damage control and dealing with consumer complaints/concerns. Even after all that they've been through, the company has vowed that they will clean up the Georgia factory that produced the salmonella-contaminated spreads and will bring Peter Pan back, safely, to consumers.

But this begs the question of whether or not it is worth the effort on ConAgra's part to do so. The recall of tainted peanut butter stretches back to 2004 - is that long enough to have permanently shaken consumer confidence in the brand?

Peter Pan is the number three selling peanut butter brand in the US, after Skippy and Jif. Over the past four weeks, more than 400 people in 44 states reportedly became sick as a result of eating their peanut butter, although ConAgra itself has recorded over 1.4 million calls about the recall and from consumers who think that they might have become ill after eating it. The recall is estimated to cost $50-$60 million in the first four months of this year alone. Peter Pan brand peanut butter typically does about $150 million in annual sales.

My son and I both got sick from it yet, we just survived it and ready for peter pan to get back on the grocery shelves where it belongs. If you need anyone to help sell Peter pan just call me! I'll be there!

They made profits this year, while not mailing refunds to the folks who sent in lids for a refund from their tainted peanut butter. Looks like they would have been happy to refund the money, since we did not eat it and die! We mailed 6 lids to them in Feb from our houses and work, since it was the only brand we ate. No refund to date. I have contacted them several times--same--no response. They are not on my list of an efficient company--they only care about money, so I am concerned how much they care about food safety, since they obviously do not care about their customers.

Several as a matter of fact. We did not return them. No one got sick. Unfortunately, there are people that want to sue whether they are truly effected or not. This is a crime. I would definitely buy Peter Pan Peanut Butter again. I look for it everytime I go to the store, hoping for it to be available. When can I expect it?

And I hate to break the news to you F.Maynard, but ALL companies only care about money. It ranges from Food companies to healthcare organizations. It's always about the bottom line, whether you want to believe it or not, the main focus is the bottom line in every business. SO, no ConAgra or any other company is not going to worry about your 6 lids of contaminated Peanut Butter-they are probably more interested in getting their facility up to par so they can produce more foods to make MORE money to get a better bottom line. Like I said that's not just ConAgra-that's any facility around the world. My advice eat only what you can grow yourself, b/c eventually every company is going to tick somebody off b/c they too only cared about the bottom line.

I can cook with it or just eat it by the spoonful! Nothing else tastes as good! I don't understand why it is not back on the shelves yet. It is very disappointing. Please, Please put Peter Pan sugar free back in the stores!

We had the Peter Pan Honey peanut butter that was recalled. but I can't wait until it hits the shelves again, because my husband and I like this better than any we have had before or have tried since the recall. and yes, I will be waiting to buy it again. I myself think quality control will be even better, and that will make the product better. I will not be afraid to go right back to buying it.
