Bacon, eggs, cereal, pancakes, muffins, fruit and coffee are just a few of the foods that are widely accepted as normal breakfast fare. They'll be on the menu of just about any breakfast-serving restaurant you might wander into, after all. This isn't to say that these are your only breakfast options, but you aren't likely to get strange looks from people when you tell them what you ate that morning, either. And rest assured that there are some people who will have strong reactions to what they feel is inappropriate breakfast food.
As an example, Jen, from Life begins at 30 told a little story about being kept in from recess when she was in the second grade (about 7 years old) by a teacher who felt unusually strongly about what appropriate breakfast foods were. She strongly disapproved of little Jen's choice of leftover spaghetti before school and it wasn't until Jen's mother talked her down that she backed off.
You won't be kept in from recess anymore, regardless of whether you prefer waffles, ham sandwiches, cold pizza or leftover apple pie for breakfast. So you can tell us: what's your favorite untraditional breakfast food?

My favorite untraditional breakfast food? Is cold pizza in the morning, left over from pizza hut. But most of the time a candy bar and cup of coffe.
I just don't feel like eating in the morning.

Cold, leftover lo mein or chow mein. Especially the version made at O'mei in Santa Cruz: O'mei Peppery Chow Mein with ham, squash, and green onions in a peppery egg sauce. I still dream of the stuff.
Most of the time I just eat toast and peanut butter, though.

Room temp leftover fried chicken is the best. I also like cake, cookies or brownies are they any worse than a doughnut? Leftover stove top stuffing, that was an accident as I forgot to put it away the night before, but it tasted really good.

I've eaten soup everyday for breakfast for as long as I can remember. It's warm, soothing and easy for a morning stomach to handle. I don't know how anyone can stand pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage for breakfast. They just too heavy to eat early in the morning.

Hey Molly! I'm a breakfast soup person too! I don't understand why it's such an odd option for morning. Anderson's Pea Soup (vegetarian) is my favorite choice. I'm also a big fan of quesadillas with sour cream/salsa in the morning.

Leftover red beans and brown rice. They taste even better the next day.

One morning when doing the "Newport-to-Bermuda" Ocean Race, I remember a crew member asking for a cigarette for breakfast.

Pasta with feta and eggs -- there's an otherwise unexciting restaurant near us that serves it for breakfast, so I keep promising myself to replicate it at home.
Cold pizza or apple pie aren't odd. Those are breakfast basics.
Living in the Southwest, what's really for breakfast is a burrito, anyway.

I eat a TV dinner almost every day for breakfast. If I have time, I'll stir fry some noodles and frozen veggies.

I ate leftover spaghetti for breakfast all the time when I was little. My mom always felt that as long as I was getting sent to school with a full belly, she didn't care what I ate.
Now my breakfast on the run is some triscuits with some cubes of cheddar cheese and red grapes. It keeps me full until lunch, and it's pretty healthy.

Leftover enchiladas.
Cold lasagna.
Asparagus with lemon butter, and a side of smoked gouda.
I would say pie or cold pizza, but these things seem perfectly normal to me for breakfast.

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich is awesome for breakfast. Cold pizza, too, but only on Saturday mornings.

I like soup for breakfast a lot. I also used to have fried pasta sometimes. Just put leftover cold pasta in a frying pan and let it get crispy. Sometimes it's a bit burnt but it tastes great. The less sauce it's in, the easier it is to cook.

Anything but traditional - I am always looking for leftovers from dinner - and nothing beats St. Louis style pizza.

Cold leftover homemade macaroni and cheese (made with cream of mushroom soup and ham and onion). Nothing could be finer.

oh my goodness I just had a hot dog with salsa for breakfast this morning. I am usually a good oatmeal or yogurt girl, but it is pre-spring break clean out the fridge time. Horrors. This post caught me on the right day.
My host mommy in Nicaragua made me gallopinto nearly every day for breakfast - yesterday's rice and beans combined and refried. YUM.

A big ol' bowl of Vietnamese pho in the morning is a great way to start the day.

Oh, I love this post! I am such a "savory" person in the morning. Favorite is sauteed garlic with red pepper flaked spinach (sometimes with zucchini) with a side of smoked salmon. Eggs sometimes over easy so the yolks run all over everything. Sometimes with avocado.
Another fave is pasta n' eggs (olive oile, garlic, fresh basil, tomatoes, eggs and, of course, pasta!)
Hey DASY, what's St. Louis style pizza?
