Sandwiches, Panini, and Wraps, Cookbook of the Day

Do you think of a sandwich as a meal, or just as part of one? I would venture to say that while at one point - and this may still be true of very large sandwiches - a single sandwich was enough, now most are accompanied by coleslaw, chips or some other side dish to make an actual meal. Sandwiches, Panini, and Wraps: Recipes for the Original Anytime and Anywhere Meal takes sandwiches back to their roots, with a variety of surprisingly satisfying sandwiches. The book starts off with a few historical notes about the development of the sandwich before moving on to describe some of the key ingredients - bread, cheese, meat - and optional additions - roasted garlic, condiments - that come together to make a sandwich great. There are recipes for hot panini sandwiches and cold sandwiches, with options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The book finishes up with some dessert recipes - not sandwiches, themselves - to complement the perfect lunchtime meal. Recipes include Lobster Salad BLTs, Border Turkey Wraps, Southwestern Spicy Beef with Black Bean Pesto and Bacon Cheddar Panini on Raisin Toast.
