Dunkin Donuts wants to be more that just a donut shop, but still isn't quite sure whether it wants to move towards a full-out fast food restaurant with lots of savory lunch and dinner options or whether they want to move towards a more Starbucks-like model, with more coffee and breakfast options. Their recent smoothie line could fall into either category, but their latest release falls clearly into coffee shop territory.
Dunkin' Donuts has just signed a deal with Proctor and Gamble, which makes Folgers and Millstone coffees, to distribute their own line of packaged coffee beans to grocery stores, club stores and other retail outlets. In the past, Dunkin' has aimed to be the choice for those who are "bewildered and turned off by the atmosphere at Starbucks" , are most likely hoping that that will keep consumers choosing their coffee over packaged Starbucks bags at the store.
There is no release date yet, but if you can't wait, you can buy the cofee beans online.

One thing I can say about the difference between Starbucks and DD..
At Starbucks you normally find the place staffed with people who know what they are doing and are competent at their jobs. They make the orders correctly, can speak English, and know what everything is. I know it's a big corporation but at least they people working at the stores at least act like they don't mind what they are doing.
I've found that more and more times at Dunkin Dounuts the staff is foreign to the point of not speaking English very well, can't make things right, don't care about their jobs, and really don't know what's going on. I've given up on quite a few of them around my house because the orders are always coming out wrong and the people working at them don't seem to give a hoot about customer service.

Conspiracy revealed! You only *think* they don't understand or speak english. Most of the time when they end up giving you a large combo instead of a medium combo, they are just making it so you throw your hands up in frustration at their apparent lack of understanding and just pay for it instead of trying to explain how they got it wrong.
You: "But I only wanted a *half* dozen glazed..."
DD Goon: "Yes yes, I make dozen you ask dozen, no?"
You: "I'm running late as it is... oh what the heck here's my money, I don't have time!"
DD Goon: (one minute after you leave) "Sucker! I make you buy twice the donuts. Muahahaha!"
