KFC Fish Snacker, with the Pope's blessing?

Fast-food restaurants have done some pretty crazy things to get attention drawn to their new products, but I think KFC has taken this to a whole new level by asking for Papal blessing for their new sandwich, the KFC Fish Snacker. Apparently the company contacted the Vatican requesting the blessing to reinforce the notion that American Catholics could enjoy this sandwich throughout Lent - a 40-day period where many people chose not to eat meat, especially on Fridays.

The sandwich itself is 100% Alaskan pollack served with tartar sauce on a bun, the latest addition to their $0.99 'Snacker' sandwich line-up. Other snackers include Buffalo - double-breaded chicken dipped in hot sauce, Ultimate Cheese - double-breaded chicken topped with cheddar and Swiss cheese sauce, and HBBQ - chicken smothered in hickory-flavored honey BBQ sauce.

No word yet on what the Pope has said in regards to the blessing, though personally I wouldn't hold my breath.

Eating fish is not vegetarian--if you're lacto-ovo (just having organic skim milk, meaning, it doesn't pump the cow full of hormones and antibiotics and cause extra suffering to the animal due to the over-pumping of milk) and cage-free chicken eggs then you can consider that a vegetarian diet. The best ultimately is vegan, because then you know for certain that you have not contributed to an industry that has ended up killing the animals it exploits for good.

Besides a glaring error which no one has bothered to correct, does anyone else not find the fact of a religious leader endorsing a product which makes profit entirely laughable?

The Vatican (the pope) is one of the three parts of the Trilateral Commission, which ensure America is truly America, Incorporated.

I think fish should continue being live and free, and contribute to the biodiversity of our ecosystems (in the living sense, fish have every right to be here as we do, and we do not have the right to take their lives from them, especially when every nutrient, protein, fat, oil and omega 3's can be acquired from many different sources. Most vegetarians do not have a protein deficiency at all. If there is a problem, it comes from not eating enough variety fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, gluten-free grains and soy, particularly dark, green leafy vegetables), and not be bred and forced to live in fish tanks. Most all of the fish you are eating is farmed from large fish tanks with hundreds of other fish, and the ones you are getting from fresh-water sources have soaked up mercury and other harmful toxins/pesticides/herbicides that have come into our ground water sources through the feces run off of the regular slaughterhouse industries, and through oil dumps.

It is estimated that more than 15% of all food-born illnesses come from fish, although fish comprise less than 1% of the food eaten (the other mostly coming from meat).

It might be more Papal to issue a blanket blessing of all fish sandwiches, though, rather than singling out one brand.

This whole lent thing is not even biblical. The early church, meaning before the Catholic Church never even practice this man made law. Do your own research and discover the truth and in the name of Jesus, you will be able to have a steak dinner and be free! From this man made law God Bless!

Never Practice this man made law called lent. Do your own research and discover the truth. The truth is that you can ask Jesus, to bless your steak dinner during Lent and be free from some man made law. Thank you Jesus!
