Fever: The ultimate pleasure beverage?

Seems like I should have been talking about this before Valentine's Day was over. The self-proclaimed "ultimate pleasure beverage" -- Fever -- is making some pretty hefty claims on what their product can do for your ... umm ... libido. The all-natural beverage, designed for adults over 18, claims to "generate a sense of warmth and stimulation that lasts for hours, your feelings and emotions intensified."

This isn't simply your average Ginseng drink though. According to their website, the ingredients include: Horny goat weed, clavo huasca, panax ginseng, caffeine from green tea, catuaba, damiana leaf, suma, maca and guarana. (If you want to know what all those ingredients are supposed to do for you, there is a full listing on their site.)

I'm not saying it works, I'm not saying it doesn't. But if anyone out there has tried it, let us know your thoughts.

It looks like somebody decided to sell an aphrodesiac liquor, went through a book on medicinal herbs, notated all that were listed under sex stimulants, and then used just the cheap ones without worrying about side effects. I'd hate to have a hangover from this stuff. You can make a better liquor for a lot less by buying a decent quality red ginseng root and steeping it in a half liter of filtered vodka. If you live in a city with access to a Chinese herb shop, add an ounce of wolfberries (lyceum), a quarter ounce of Chinese licorice root, and an ounce of red dates for sweetness and balance; steep it for three weeks and it's ready. If you like the taste of ginseng, try the liquor in tonic water, or in club soda with Campari, or just take a shot with a chaser. One is all you need to stay up most of the night. And yes, that's a double entendre.

I tried it and I definately felt something and my boyfriend had 2 cans. Lets just say it was a good night. It tasted pretty good. It has a ginger/vanilla flavoring. You can really taste the ginger.

As far as the drink itself is concerned, you can buy the same ingredients in pill form for a lot less money at any vitamin or health-food store. Then wash it down with any beverage you like.

especially true for those individuals who may be
taking other prescribed medications. There can
be severe adverse reactions when mixing certain 'natural' ingredients with prescription drugs.

My recommendation would be that anyone thinking of taking this new over-the-counter product talk it over with their medical care provider before doing so.

Hmmm, they must be leaving out animal products to give rise to the market as a whole, not leaving out anyone.

I agree with the cautions above...

"My recommendation would be that anyone thinking of taking this new over-the-counter product talk it over with their medical care provider before doing so. "

Caffeine alone can cause a rise in blood pressure, so, as with most pharmaceutical agents [even if sold as "food supplements"], one must first understand if one has any allergies or pre-existing conditions that would be worsened by taking the "potion".

As many substances are metabolized in the liver, there is always some risk when combining this or any other potion with alcohol.

Regular, light, appropriate exercise is said to produce similar results, and doesn't cost $40 a case, while having other benefits in many [again check if it makes sense for you].

Peace.

I work for a Supplement Corp. and have to say that more then half of the herbal Supps. in that drink are WORTHLESS! the drink itself seems nothing more than a "Spraks" drink. The gurana extract will add a little pep in your step but as far as the: Horny goat weed, clavo huasca, panax ginseng, caffeine from green tea, catuaba, damiana leaf, suma, maca it is worthless. They have put antioxidents in it and i am sure that none of them are in any dose to help with anything. WORTHLESS!
