If I say beer with lime, what instantly comes to mind? I bet it's Corona. The Miller Brewing Co. is hoping to change that perspective when it releases its latest product, Miller Chill, to test markets next month. The beer comes complete with salt and lime flavoring (chelada style) already added. Let's be honest, having to bring limes along camping, to a party, or anywhere else where it is inconvenient to cut up little wedges of fruit is a pain, so this should solve that problem nicely. Also, the beer is low-cal, what more could you ask for? I just hope it tastes as good as it sounds. Hoping the beer will be a hit among the Hispanic population, Miller will begin test marketing next month in a number of states including Arizona, Florida, New Mexico, Texas and parts of California. If anyone has the opportunity to try it, please let us know what you think.

This sounds downright horrific. Low-cal? Salt and lime artificial flavor? Miller? I wouldn't drink any beer with even one of those descriptors.

I'm sorry, but just looks disgusting. Taking a lime along is not that difficult, and who wants salty beer?

I'm sure it'll taste as good as it sounds. Because it sounds awful.

I can't see how this wouldn't suck. I'd rather take along a real lime than drink the cleaner-like "flavouring" they usually add to these kinds of beverages.

To me, putting lime juice in a beer is sacrilege. It upsets me when bars shove a lime in the neck of my bottle without asking me first. Secondly, any beer that *requires* this in order to taste good probably isn't worth drinking. Anyone who enjoys this concoction probably doesn't really like beer in the first place. This is as much a beer as a wine cooler is a wine.

I thought the point of the lime in the neck was to keep the insects out of the beer.

anyone remember Tequiza? no? good. the problem of course is that they're just going to toss in some ascorbic acid and call it lime juice. a real chelada is actually good. a 'chill' will not be. why not do what we do when it's summer and corona has gone the way of ridiculously expensive? put a lime in a high life and call it a day.

Lime just kills the flavor of beer. You only need lime and salt in your beer if your beer sucks. But then, we're talking about miller products here, so I repeat myself.

If I buy a bottle of this, it would be as a collectible item. I'm almost certain they won't be making this for too long, and unopened bottles of odd beverages just might appreciate in value. . . like unopened bottles of Orbitz, Crystal Pepsi, and New Coke.

Say it aint so... This would be better with your favorite beer and a fresh lime wedge. The thought of this beer is not to appetizing at the moment!

I tried this in a test group a couple months back and it was incredibly "meh." It's super easy to drink, but it has a bit of an odd aftertaste. I can see it becoming a big hit for BBQs this summer. I think it'll disappear shortly thereafter.

Doesn't one of Miller's ridiculous "Man Laws" say: "do not fruit the beer"?
Now they're fruting the beer for you?
I smell FLOP with a hint of lime

Hey Gang... I guess there is no adventure among beer drinkers, in this blog.. grab something safe, drink it, then repeat.. And then we have people criticizing, before the product is on the market.. before anybody has had a taste...
Could it be a flop? YES... could it end being a seasonal beer? YES... could it end up on the shelf, with all the other beers, regardless of season? YES...
BTW, did any of you try the 'chocolate beer' Miller offered at Christmas? I thought it was quite good... can you chug it like MGD or High Life? Good with food? Yes & No.. more of a sipping beer.. in my opinion.. and you need beers, something you nurse, like this, for the population who can't get blotto, everytime out.... DUIs & MADD are not going away..
So let's give it this idea, a chance... Lite beers survived, despite the same criticizisms.. that was over 30 years ago...
Comments welcome... and YES, I try many different beers, from all over the world.. I drink out of the bottle.. I chill a glass in the freezer and drink from the glass... with food and without.. cheap & expensive.. I chug and I nurse/sip.. I'm not your average beer drinker...

I agree with most of you, that if you have to add lime or other flavors to your beer, that the beer probably sucks. But I will give this beer a chance, it might taste decent. The only other beer with flavoring that I've ever somewhat liked is Tequiza...but after 3 or 4, its got a weird Froot Loops after taste. I'm gonna at least give it a try.

I have been putting a fresh lime in pepsi long before Pepsi thought of it. When I tried the Pepsi Lime, I thought I would die. The overpowering smell of the artifical lime essence could gag a bull elephant and the artifical taste was worse. Too put that same smell and taste in beer. You would have to be drunk to even try it. Still a pepsi fan but with my own fresh lime.

I have been enjoying Miller's products since the 1970's. Now its time to move on. If a beer company goes as far as lowering its taste stanard for money. I belive I will go see the Adams family.
