Around this time last year, a department store in Japan offered up a million dollar cake. This year's cake at the Takashimaya department store in Osaka is not quite as pricey, but is still nothing to sneeze at. The 14-inch high cake is studded with about 100 diamonds totaling 50 carats. The cake itself has a square chocolate base and a chocolate sculpture of some kind on top that makes it look like a showpiece - which, of course, it is.
The cake is priced at $848,600 or 100 million yen, but a spokesperson for the store said that the value of all the diamonds on the cake is much higher than its price tag. She also suggested that "it would be ideal if a man were to buy it as a present for his wife."
The cake has been on display for at least a few days now and will remain up through Christmas, even if it is sold before then.

Who knows! I wouldn't eat it. I be afraid I would eat one of the diamons. I think I would use my diamonds in something else besides on a cake. Guess you have to be rich to want something so stupid. Glad I dont have to worry about it lol.

I have been reading the last few blogs in recent weeks. I am amazed at how many people critize what others do with thier money. If I had enough cash, I woulld certanily be intrested in such an unusal cake. Who are we to judge what anyone does? We should only judge ourselves. We don't know if these affluent people gave to charity. How many of us gave to charity the same amount we spent on the gifts we plan on giving this season? Yes, there are plenty of over the top items out there and yes some look down right crazy. BUT I am not the one to say what others want is right or wrong. Life is about fun, caring, and loving oursleves and others as we want to be lovedm no matter who we pray to. Have a great season no matter what you are celebrating! And let's remember some things are truly just made for fun!

how stupid are you people,.......the diamonds are ON TOP OF THE CAKE NOT IN IT. you're not paying for the cake , you're paying for the diamonds. 100 carat made up of 50 diamonds means that the diamonds are about 2 carats each. a high quality 2 carat stone can cost up to $30,000. what people do with their money is their own business.

Number 8 (Jodie) I ALMOST agree with you, we have no right to critize what people do with their money. Especially if they have given to charity already. BUT.......think about how many children you could feed with over $800,000? That is something to think about. We don't have the right to critize people, but sometimes you can't help but ask WHY? Remember, JESUS is the reason for the season.
