Coca-Cola is planning to launch a new version of Diet Coke in 2007. No, this isn't going to be like the disaster that was "New Coke" in the 1980s. The drink is actually going to be similar to the current Diet Coke, but it will be fortified with vitamins and minerals, meaning that people will have even more of a reason to opt for diet than just wanting to cut down on calories: they can do it for their health. Diet Coke Plus, as the drink is called, will be "the first nutrient-enhanced carbonated soda to be offered by a major brand" and will not replace the current Diet Coke, which is the best-selling sugar-free soda in the world.
A sugar-free, but nutrient-filled, drink will certainly have a lot of appeal in an increasingly health-conscious society, but is it enough to convert people to diet Coke from other sources of vitamins? Assuming that it ends up tasting like the standard diet Coke, would you give it a try?

IF it tasted like Diet Coke and was the same price, sure, I'd give it a whirl.

Very wary of them messing with it. I don't care what's in there, they've got the taste right without the sugar. I'll give it a shot, but based on the taste of those beta-carotene skim milk attempts, I don't have high hopes. Also I doubt it's going to be considered 'healthy' anytime soon, I've seen people look at me like I'm a madman for ingesting any amount of aspartame. Of course it was a vegetarian girl that looked like death warmed over with limp hair, but at least she had no brain lesions.
Well, Coke knows their business, and there are billions of dollars at stake, so how bad can it be?

Diet Coke is horrendous. If they keep the same taste, I don't care how many nutrients are in it, I'm staying away.

I drink Diet Coke anyway. Add vitamins and minerals? Considering that I am just recovering from triple heart bypass surgery and need more vitamins and minerals, the perfect soda now exists. Yay!
I'll bet it tastes the same. Yes, Nic, I AM going to try it. :D

Diet Coke is far from the perfect soda, if it was a perfect soda it wouldnt contain aspartame to rot your brain, it would in fact make you smarter, stronger, live longer, never go bald and build muscle and melt fat while and clean out your bad cholesterol and make super models fall in love with you. Right?
Diet soda in any form is nasty, the artificial sweeteners they put in them is poison. This is just another marketing trick to get people to drink more diet coke...they are creating an illusion that diet coke is better for you than say...drinking water? Sure it has vitamins, but its still bad for you. The vitamins arent enough to conteract the damage that aspartame poisoning does to your body and brain. WHy does it seem that people that drink diet coke drink alot of it? I had an incle that drank it all day....started his day with it in the morning, nice tall icey cdiet coke. He would sit and read the sales ads in the paper like a zombie....I seriously think diet coke was making him lethargic and brain dead. Still is apparantly.
