FDA approves new pearl-effect colors for candy, foods, and drugs

The FDA approved new pearl-effect colors for foods. Merck KGaA is marketing Canduran Pearl Effect Colors, the pigments contain the natural mineral mica, covered with titanium dioxide. This gives them a delightful shimmering opalescent luster and vibrancy which will add some elegant sheen to many candies, foods, and drugs in the future. Also the pigments are being considered for use in making many new drug tablets so individually one of a kind that they could be used to help prevent drug counterfeiting. I am really looking forward to seeing foods with some of these gorgeous textures and colors since a huge amount of how we first perceive foods is with our eyes.
