Turkey stuffing from White Castle

I can think of at least one situation in which White Castle Slyders really hit the spot. Maybe two. Neither of those two situations are Thanksgiving, however, so I was pretty surprised to see a recipe for turkey stuffing on the White Castle website. It involves a number of slyders - their small, rectangular burgers that have five little holes in the patties and come with onions and a pickle - and some more traditional stuffing ingredients, such as celery and spices. The pickles are removed before starting the stuffing, but since onions, bread and sausage can all play a big role in stuffing, it actually doesn't seem too strange.

The recipe is after the jump, if you're brave enough to try it.

White Castle Turkey Stuffing
(from the White Castle website)
10 White Castle hamburgers(slyders), pickles removed
1 1/2 cups celery, diced
1 1/4 tsp. ground thyme
1 1/2 tsp. ground sage
3/4 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
1/4 cup chicken broth

In a large mixing bowl, tear the burgers into pieces and add diced celery and seasonings. Toss and add chicken broth. Toss well. Stuff cavity of turkey just before roasting. Makes about 9 cups (enough for a 10- to 12-pound turkey).
WC's Note: Allow 1 hamburger for each pound of turkey, which will be the equivalent of 3/4 cup of stuffing per pound.

I remember having it as a kid, and am doing it this year for my kid because he loves White Castle. Only issue is that there is not one by me so I have to purchase thet super expensive ones from the freezer section.

Since the only slider I ever ate (gift certificate for one after winning a friend's house Halloween party context...) lasted 15 minutes before I had to pull over and get sick on the side of the road, I do not think so. Probably too much grease or what they purport for onions, not food poisoning.

Urp.

My instinct is that this stuffing will not work as well baked outside the turkey -- you need the turkey juices both to moisten it and to cut the beefiness and greasiness of the ingredients.
