Zota Green Tea Soda

The other day I tried a bottle of a great new soda. At least it was new to me. Turns out it's been around for a couple of years. I came across Zota Green Tea Soda, in of all places, a kosher deli. Usually, when I eat deli I drink Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray, but I'm always game for something new. They had only one flavor, root beer.

While it didn't have the world's most pronounced root beer flavor, it was quite good and incredibly refreshing. Like most better sodas, Zota has no high-fructose corn syrup. Rather it uses evaporated cane juice as a sweetener. It packed a nice little caffeine kick and I'm sure also carried all the health benefits of green tea. I can't wait to try some of the other flavors, which include ginger, cola, lime and orange.

After looking at the company's web site I understand why Zota was in the deli's beverage case. Not only is it organic, it's also certified kosher.

"FYI: The Zota Company ceased operation in May of 2005 due to investor issues. Most of the inventory was placed in close-out in late 2005."

If you want a healthy refreshing drink, try Fuze. No high fructose corn syrup, no aspartame or nutra sweet and they are all enhanced with vitamins. Awesome!

http://www.steaz.com/index.asp

It's very widely available (here on the east coast of the US at least) and is organic and comes in lots of flavors, including rootbeer. Take a look for it at Whole Foods or anywhere else that has a nice organic section. Macy's in NYC sells it as well in their basement eatery place.

I am also happy to announce that we are reintroducing this great-tasting soda to the public again! Naturally, we'd appreciate your help in getting the word out that we're back up and running, but I want to assure you that the same Kosher and Organic certifications are in place and that a better tasting product will soon be on store shelves again.

The old Zota company did experience financial difficulties and their inventory did move along the dollar-store route once they went out of business, but in February our distribution network will begin routing Zota Soda to the East and West coasts once more and I encourage all of you to look for it (and taste it again, too!).

I know that the "older" product will not harm you, but due to the organic qualities there will be color and taste breakdown in any older product found on shelves now. Therefore, I'd advise waiting until the new soda reaches your area before purchasing and consuming again.

I'd really like to hear from you after you've tasted the soda again to learn more about what you liked (or did not like) about it. We're in the process of updating the zotasoda.com website and will be offering cases for sale on-line soon. The four flavors initially rolling out will include: Ginger, Orange, Lemon and Raspberry.

I look forward to answering any questions you might have about the product and hope you visit our website soon and join other fans of Zota Soda!

Not sure what Zota tastes like but I gotta tell you that Steaz root beer is amazing, a little cream soda with that good old root beer flavor. is ther really room for 2 organic green tea sodas...don't know. I also drink Vitamin Water and it doesn't matter how many companies try their hand in the vitamin water concept, I am sticking with VW. Steaz guys (I think you're in PA), like my preference for VW I will be sticking with you as well, keep up the great work and let's see more Diet flavors too...love the Diet Black Cherry but want to try some new flavors.
