The world's most expensive champagne

Pernod Ricard is launching a new champagne at a price that will make Cristal and Dom Perignon look like two-buck Chuck, as $400 per bottle price tags seem small when compared to this one. The wine and spirits group said that it would be launched under their Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque brand and it will be priced at $1,270 (€1,000) per bottle. This makes it the most expensive champagne in the world. Unfortunately, aside from the price tag, the company was fairly quiet about the other details of the release, though chairman Patrick Ricard did say "We won't do many cases and won't be offering it in France."

The group is actively pursuing ways to increase the perception of their brands as very upmarket, so perhaps this will be the first of many releases from the company. Regardless it will certainly set a benchmark in the champagne industry.

It gave my "ocassion" such a deeper meaning. NOw all you that are carrying on about "buy cheaper blah blah" you just don't have a clue. But that is ok because it helps to weed out the undesirables. Just an FYI in case you just might be curious.....Cristal tastes like...hmmmm..like....soft wet lips, deep dark eyes taking in everthing....your heart beating so fast, your skin flushed and tingling, his breathe so close you cannot stand it one second longer.....PRICELESS!

of Salon @ $18.00 per bottle. I'll expect my usual 10% case price
discount. Salon is a "vintage only" producer. 76 years, 30
bottlings! Many American sparkling wines can certainly hold their own
with their French counterpart; "Roederer Estate: is a perfect
example. Our own American originals e.g. "J" and "Iron Horse" can
hold their own with any Champagne.Spanish Cavas offer great value.
Cristalino consistently rated in the high 80's, under around $10.00
btl.For my money Deutz, Roederer Estate or Veuve Clicquot NV can't be
beat.Champagne is an easy way out for those who prefer to "think" they
know wines. Look for a "year" on the bottle, hand over your credit
card and assume you're drinking the best. Compare that to the time,
diligence and palate it takes to find those beautiful robust
Burgundies, Oregon Pinot Noirs or those tremendous Tuscan reds.Even
tougher wending your way through French white Burgundies. From the
undrinkable to the sublime Montrachets and Meursault!Price is
irrelevant. The 1995 Monte Antico under $10.00 rated in the 90's by
WS when it was released. I'd spend $100+ on an Angelo Gaja bottling
before shelling out the same money on French Champagne. Totally
uneccessary!I'll expect delivery within 3 weeks!Yamabushi!
