Despite the fact that the trend of combining chocolate and unusual herbs/spices shows no real signs of slowing, I am not a fan of most of such combinations. You won't see me buying curry truffles or garlic fudge any time soon. With the exception of mint, and possibly a few others that have been around long enough to be considered "normal," I prefer to keep the flavors in separate foods. Not everyone shares this point of view, though. Brilynn from Jumbo Empandas, for example, is a bit more willing to experiment with unusual combinations, as evidenced by her Basil Brownies. She used a tried-and-true recipe as her base and incorporated some dried basil into half of the batter. The verdict? "Very basilly." You might have to try them for yourself if you really want to get the full effect.
Of course, this is nothing compared to bacon brownies, which actually have bits of bacon crumbled into them, which call for someone with just a touch more daring than basil brownies do.

You know what they say--one basil leaf and you're a philosopher, twenty and you're a prevert.

I share your sentiments. I have a certain respect for chocolate. Mint is acceptable and I beleive still
within the norms. But herbs and spices??? sweet and salty is as far as I go...but only with popcorn. I doubt I'll ever try basil brownies. I don't even want to know what it tastes like. Bacon brownies? Give me a break!
