An Italian study found that people who ate five or more slices of bread a day, or 35 per week, were twice as likely to develop Renal Cell Carcinoma, a leading cause of kidney cancer, as those who ate bread only half as often, or less. The scientists behind the study felt that an increase in blood glucose levels might be a factor in the increased cancer risk. High GI foods are usually things that are highly processed with a lot of sugar or contain a lot of refined white flour. Some sources are saying that the study linked eating white bread with cancer because of this GI link, but "the study did not specify what type of bread [participants] ate," so statements of that sort are just speculation. The study did not actually "establish exactly what in bread may be to blame."
Besides, it seems that a significant portion of the food-related media tries to convince us that in Italy everyone only eats the best bread from their local bakeries, not processed white bread. If the results of the study turned out to be a result of eating three loaves of Wonder Bread each week it might make sense, but baguettes?

Bread causes death and disease, nearly all sick people have eaten bread.
99.9% of all people who die from cancer have eaten bread.
Evidence points to the long-term effects of bread eating: Of all the people born since 1839 who later dined on bread, there has been a 100% mortality rate.
Bread is often a "gateway" food item, leading the user to "harder" items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts.
So there you have it! Bread is bad for you!
Oh, one more... Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a very low incidence of cancer, Altzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, osteoporosis and lawyers.

Refined processed bread, strips out nutrition, just look at the children nowadays all overweight with poor diets. I know magnesium has been taken out of bread totally and people don't realize you need it to balance calcium and all you hear about is taking calcium for osteoporosis which I have. So why can't you believe cancer?

Does bread cause cancer? Of course not. Does eating alot of bread suggest something about a persons overal diet? Much more likely. Does eating white bread in particular suggest some link to economic factors and subsequently health care? Also possible, certainly more possible than bread casuing kidney cancer. "man shall no live on bread alone", tue indeed; and I doubt he would die from bread alone either. A scientist should be ashamed to publish such a careless conclusion - or should I say opinion?

LOL............to Rich T., who posted about being Bread being a gateway drug, leading to harder items like jelly, butter and peanut butter..........LOL..regardless of the subject matter, that was a simply delightful post. Witty, as could be. I smiled reading it.
As for bread......I'm sure it does cause cancer. So does some of the materials used in toilet paper, toothpaste, and soap. I would hate like hell to give those up.
I am still concerned about the machines from years ago, that allowed all the kids to see their feet at the shoestore. What did they call them?? Oh yes.......Xray machines!!!! I stared at my little bones, glowing in the green, for as long as I could. Still today, we have feet. Phew!! Maybe if we made the bread from soylent green it would be healthier, but till then......well, I have to ponder this.
