The best way to hard-boil and egg is to...remove the water?
British inventor Simon Rhymes has created a gadget that uses four 500-watt lightbulbs to cook the eggs, rather than boiling them in water (though we all know that we don't actually boil the eggs in water, right? We just let thim sit in hot water). Rhymes' gadget cooks eggs in six minutes, then automatically chops off the top to allow people to dip their toast in the egg.
So, this is different from say, sticking your eggs in high-heat oven...how?

10-12-2006 @11:17AM tr said... it's different than using a conventional oven because you're using infrared radiation from the bulbs to cook the eggs. in an oven, you basically just have a closed box, with a volume of air at a high temperature. you stick food in there, and wait for the food to heat up. i'm guessing with this device, you heat the egg directly using the bulbs.

I have one 250 watt photography light that melted the socket it was in in about 5 minutes. It's just a glorified Easy Bake oven. How necessary...
