I am nowhere near getting married, but if I could somehow get cupcakes for a wedding delivered here from Australia, I might consider it.
These gorgeous cupcakes are made by Kylie Lambert for her bakery Le Cupcake...in Sydney Australia! I am sure the cupcake itself tastes great (it looks like vanilla), but it is the soft, subtle blue, and the detail of what is on top that got me. I suspect that Kylie pressed some sort of lace into fondant to create the look. Her other cupcakes are similar, some with the same lace impressions, others that are simply frosted, but have beautiful sugar decorations. I love the butterfly.
She doesn't have a website, but this photo, along with photos of all her cupcake artistry, is on Flickr.

I suspect she's just used a rolling pin with that design embossed onto it. (like this one- http://shop.bakerscatalogue.com/items/Springerle_Pin.html )
She's then cut circles out of the patterened fondant with a biscuit cutting ring and applied the circles to the top of the cupcakes. Simple, fast and easy.
I wouldn't make cakes exactly like these as I'm not a fan of fondant. Yes, it's edible, and cake pro's love fondant because it holds its form and doesn't melt, but in my opinion, fondant quite simply is NOT good food.
If I were making this cake-topper, I'd probably roll out marzipan or modeling chocolate (chocolate mixed with corn syrup) instead. Either would look just as good and either would bring some great flavor to the cakes.

One- making these myself for an entire wedding is WAY too much work to do, when you've got plenty of other things to be worrying about. Trust me- I tried a test-run for 100 people, and I gave up and outsourced the job.
Two- if I had to outsource these, WAY over budget, unless you have the luxury of not worrying about a budget.
I agree with the above poster- I'd prefer marzipan to fondant, too. It may look pretty, but I'm not a huge fan of the taste (or lack thereof :-)

Maybe Leslie should taste my cakes before deciding they would taste horrible! I don't know what planet you guys are on but the fondant/sugarpaste I use is delicious! if Leslie has a spare $80 odd dollars for one of the rolling pins that I supposedly used then maybe she could whip up the SIMPLE,FAST & EASY cupcakes I've created & post some pics! The whole point of these cupcakes is to create something beautiful, unique AND tasty ( & something NO-ONE else has done!). And Adriane...the "measly" thin layer of "meh" fondant I use is actually delicious...especially since I put a layer of buttercream under it! (don't knock something unless you know what you are talking about!) Gee, you create something as unique & beautiful as these (guarantee you wont find nice ones like these anywhere on the web!) & they get criticised by people who don't know what they're talking about! (Oh & I do nice buttercream ones too.....but then any man & his dog can do those!)
