Speaking of the Egg McMuffin for breakfast -- I'm not sure how good this will be for my health or my figure, but McDonald's has just announced that it may start serving breakfast all day long. Sausage Biscuit for lunch? Those horribly delicious hash browns at dinner? In the last few years, McDonald's breakfasts have been the "strongest performer" in their business, so it certainly makes sense to offer it throughout the day. Currently, the fast food restaurants are forced to stop making the breakfast items in order to start preparing the regular burgers for lunch and dinner. However, CEO Jim Skinner says that the company is planning to implement a new restaurant layout with a flexible operating system that will allow for preparing breakfast alongside the regular menu.
Can you imagine getting an Egg McMuffin at 2 am from a 24-hour drive-thru? Wow.

I live about 4 blocks from the nearest McDonald's. If they offered Egg Mc Muffins all day long, I would seriously consider moving closer.

Someone please explain to me why it's so hard to microwave an egg at noon? What magic Transformer style kitchen do that have that negates their ability to make breakfast after 11:00?

I'm a big egg mcmuffin fan. I order it sans meat, so it's not even THAT bad for me as fast food fare goes. I'd love to be able to get one at 11 AM or for lunch for that matter. I wish they actually had a menu item that was the egg mcmuffin without the meat (and of course cheaper).

That would be great for people that might go out on a Friday night, and after partying might be in the mood for a quick breakfast on the way home.

It must be ESP. I've seriously thought about writing the CEO of McDonald's to encourage the company to serve breakfast all day. It's my favorite of all the meals served and I would eat there much more often if I could eat from the breakfast menu. I think McDonald's will see it's profits soar if they go ahead with this plan!

Geez, lets see, Jock In the Crock, has been doing this for a long time. And let me tell you, when I get a hankerin' for a Supreme Croissant at 2 AM or 2 PM, it is the right time. If you have never had one, it is very hedonistic.Soft flaky croissant, with its soft insides perfectly filled with, bacon, grilled egg, cheese, and ham. You fingers get greasy, your taste buds get satisfied, and your belly gets fed. I am not a big fast food eater (though every time Taco Bell comes out with a new buritto,I have to try it...marketing and advertising, damn you!), The Supreme Croissant is one I get a craving for occasionally. So I go and fill my need and never look back. Try it, you might like it. Oh, and the Egg McMuffin gives me heartburn like nobodys business.

I'm with Al ... I was going to comment that Jack in the Box has been doing this all along. A simple Breakfast Jack in the middle of the night, or 2 pm, is just fine by me. A warm bun, an actual fried egg with YOLK, a thinly grilled piece of ham, and a slice of cheese, and I'm in the business. Kudos to McDonald's, but ... gee ... way to catch up late in the game.

Wonder if they are going to offer the whole menu? Where I live in NC ,the late nite menu only offers a few things that you can order. I think the breakfast idea is great! Never could eat breakfast early in the morning since I was a kid. Love their steak and cheese bagel with the melted cheese and onions.......yum with a strawberry shake and hashbrowns. Yes, a get a shake in the morning lol...The combination is heaven on earth!

Hey that is pretty cool since "hotcake and sausage" is my favorite thing there at McDonald's, I don't really like the hanburger with those little tiny white pieces, I think they are garlics? Anyway I would eat the "hotcakes" every day, except of course I guess you would have to go over there, what if I just want to stay home? So maybe not, is what I am saying, still they are pretty good (hot syrup).

I've been working for the same McDonald's store for 6 years now. I never even heard about all this bru-hah until one of my customers told me about it. So I went to talk to the good 'ole manager. I was told by him that the media was never even supposed to know about this, and that its not even in the "planning stage". So don't get your hopes up. A lot of McDonald's stores nowadays are privately owned franchises so don't expect this whole thing to take off at all of their stores.
Except for making my job harder; I personally, could care less...
P.S. - We don't cook our eggs in a microwave!!! To answer your question Punisher2k; we have so much more equipment than you think. In our store, we hardly have room to move around in the grill area because its such a small building. And we also only have 2 grills that barely fit in the grill area. I can't even imagine having 4 grills, a muffin toaster, a bagel toaster, a bun toaster, more microwaves, another oven, another table for making breakfast items during lunch, and so on.
The wait to get your food at McDonald's is long enough as is. How'd you like to wait twice or even three times as long because you want your breakfast at a time other than breakfast. It's just ridiculous.
In my opinion this whole idea is technically infeasible.

I haven't been to McDonald's in over a year because I hate the rest of the McDonald's menu. But I occasionally crave their breakfasts: specifically, a Sausage Biscuit with Egg, some hash browns and an orange juice. If I could buy this selection noon, night, and 2 a.m., I might actually start going to McD's again.

I think DJ is totally not seeing the big picture. What does a large coporation do when their sales have hit the highest they can with it's current exsistence? They change to try to hit higher profits. What is the ONLY change that could bring MORE profits than McDonalds has already seen? BREAKFAST ALL DAY! DJ may have proven why a career at McDonalds is a fact, by stating something so stupid as having breakfast all day is impossible. Not only is it possible but I know for a fact it WILL happen. But unfortunatly not for a while. Increasing profits and rise in stock value is all large corporations care about. The only way to go up is to accomidate what the public wants. The public wants breakfast....whenever.

OOooo, I'm already planning my lunch selection now...yogurt parfait, plain biscuit(HALLELUJAH!), and hashbrown. And orange juice. BUENO! I don't eat Mc D's often; the last time was probably a month ago, but if they start to serve breakfast all day...I'll be soooo happy. It's so sad how excited we all get over greasy artery-clogging breakfast food, no?

I found out my McDonald’s store does not plan to have this even if others do and it is one of the new bigger stores, where they would have room go figure. The media should of said they plan do due a test market to see if it is feasible. That why I go to Bob Evans To get pancake. I can get pancakes anytime. The news made it seem like all New Bigger stores would have breakfast all day long. They did severe the cinnamon rolls all day long but some customers complained they got sick. So it went back to morning only at my store.
