eDesk for those times you have to eat in the car

edeskIf you're lucky enough to live somewhere that doesn't have horrendous traffic, then you can skip this post. However, for those of us who live in places like L.A., where a one-way commute from the office back home could be well over an hour, then something like the eDesk might be helpful. It attaches to your steering wheel and provides a small desktop in your car. Hopefully, you would only use it when traffic is a complete standstill. Or by your carpool-mates in the backseat.

Though the original site (in Japanese) seems to showcase the eDesk more for work activities, i.e. as a place to put a laptop, we do see how this could be useful when you've missed dinner at home and are relegated to drive-thru on your commute. Double Double Animal Style, "eat in the car!"

I haven't seen the eDesk available anywhere except off their site in Japan.

In 2002 my 27 year old cousin was killed by a man who couldn't wait to get home to eat his KFC..sadly, the man who killed my cousin also died..leaving behind his wife and four young children. I know that your day is long and that its very hard to find time to attend to your basic needs, but please people..keep the food in the bag till you get home.

It's meant to add a usable work surface to the vehicle while it is parked. HELLO!!! (Guess you are just the types of people who would buy this thing and use it while you drove...sheesh!) I agree with the comment about Americans eating in the car: It's disgusting. I was in Japan last year and they don't even eat or drink while walking down the street! I didn't see one person holding a can of Coke or a cup of Starbuck's. Oh, and their drinks are smaller - like they SHOULD BE! When I came back to the U.S., I realized what a bunch of oafs we are (a generalization, of course).

If they are going to rearend you because they're busy eating, isn't it only right that their megasized soft drink, large fries and cheeseburger hit their floor?
Secondly, isn't it just a tad optomistic to think Americans actually have enough room to open a table between their belly and the steering wheel???

This is a crazy idea. I have been hoping they would outlaw hand-held cell phones and someone comes up with this? I suppose it is one way to eliminate some of the unwanted people in the world.

Someone is pulling my leg, right? How could one attach a tray to the steering wheel? One couldn't move the steering wheel without something falling off the tray. i.e. a cup of coffee. Surely this is a danger and a joke, yes?

I see enough accidents with people trying to make right and left hand turns while talking on cell phones, not paying attention that the car in front of them stopped. This food tray is an accident waiting to happen. Any driver involved in an accident with this food desk in his car should not be given any compensation by the insurance companies. As for cell phone use in cars I can hardly wait for government to step in and tell car manufactures to make cars that once the car is running it creates an electrical disturbence that makes the cell phone useless once the car is in motion.

This bag is a lot safer than the tray, and will save your shirt from ketchup stains, and not mess up the steering wheel for the important part of the drive. GET THEIR SAFE.
