Even with a huge number of diet-friendly products appearing on grocery store shelves and constant reminders from the media about how bad junk foods and fast food are for us, some people still feel that "health food" will taste like cardboard and continue to chow down on fatty, salty and/or sugary foods that are not exactly waistline-friendly. And that's fine, in moderation, but it's important to note that healthier foods don't always taste bad.
Kashi wanted to really drive this point home, so to prove that their new Chewy Trail Mix granola bars don't taste like cardboard, they are sending out free granola bars for people to taste. Their nutritionist & brand manager, Jeff Grogg, will eat a cardboard box if people don't like them. Just sign up at their website, wait for your granola bar to arrive, then log back in and tell them what you thought. The bars have roasted almonds, cranberries and honey and are made with all natural ingredients, so it sounds like they have a head start on the cardboard, but you'll have to wait for your own bar before making up your mind.

Coming in at just over 14% fat and what looks like almost the same amount of sugar this is not exactly a 'health' food, is it? And probably not really 'waistline friendly' either!
I read once that a good way to assist in weight loss is to try to restrict yourself to foods which are less than 10% fat. When you start looking it's amazing how many foods like cereals and crackers are actually over (and often a lot over) this magic figure!

I love Kashi Bars, and actually have a big box from Amazon filled with the suckers in my garage. They hold me over from my 6:00AM breakfast to my noon lunch. Personally, I like their Honey Almond Flax more.
Wow, I sound like a shill.

Actually, Alex, weight loss happens when you're burning more calories than you're consuming. The fat in the Kashi bars is primarily unsaturated, and thus, cardioprotective. The "good" fat.
Sorry. I'm a nutrition educator, and no, I don't work for Kashi. :)

Love these bars myself -- they do have perhaps more fat than some might want, but it's mostly unsaturated (5g fat total, 0.5g saturated, 0.0 trans), and likely comes from the nuts.
No appreciable cholesterol, 4g fiber, and 6g sugar per bar works for me, too.

Just after I sent my comments in regarding the granola bar I noticed that I didn't add my email address. My comment was basically that I didn't care for the granola bar because it had no taste. I think that the card board box that it came in would have more taste to it. Sorry!

I tried the free bar. It tastes "healthy". Sorry, to say I won't be buying these anytime soon. Thanks for the free bar though!
