The Food Network loves Paula Deen and they are about to do what they always do with their favorite stars -Rachael Ray, Emeril, Bobby Flay, Alton Brown - and give her a new show. Paula's Cooking Party is an hour-long prime time show staring Paula, a kitchen and a live studio audience. The network describes it as a "non-stop rollercoaster of food, fun, stories, recipes and surprises" and it will have far less emphasis on straight cooking instruction, which her current show is based around. Well, that and butter, anyway.
Deen, 59, just recently became a grandmother, so it is something of a surprise that the network is opting to promote her when they have been trying to attract a younger audience. Granted, Paula's show and her specials have attracted the some of the largest tv audiences on the network, but is "Paula unplugged" going to attract viewers? And when one of the early episodes featured Paula "trying on a young audience member's stilettos, telling jokes and staging a live crab race," will it keep viewers accustomed to seeing her cook satisfied?
The show premiers September 29th, so we'll just have to wait until then to find out.

This is the first program on Food Network that I'm really unhappy about. The other ones I wasn't crazy about I knew I could just avoid. But I watch at night and I really dislike Paula Deen. I don't like how they're making a Martha/Ellen type show on Food Network, either.
Last night I was going on about how much I dislike Emeril Live while watching it. I used to make fun of people for getting so worked up about programs/people on Food Network. Oops.

I like Paula Deen and I think Food Network should give this a shot. It's worth a try, if it's a hit great, if not oh well.

PAULA DEEN IS GREAT, I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE ANYONE WOULD DISLIKE SOMEONE WITH SO MUCH PERSONAILTY.
WATCHING PAULA AT THE END OF A WORK DAY BRINGS A LOT
OF COMFORT AND GREAT MEAL IDEAS. WE HAVE SO FEW PEOPLE TO WATCH AND LEARN FROM WHEN IT COMES TO COOKING; MOST PEOPLE DON'T REALLY DO A LOT OF COOKING.
SO ITS BEEN A REAL TREAT TO WATCH AND LEARN. ONE DAY
I WOULD LIKE TO MEET PAUALA. JANE HENGTGEN

I have seen the pilot for this show. Basically it's a lecture audience watching her cook a southern meal. I don't know if it's being redone but the pilot was pretty awful. It had low quality production values and that annoying cackle of a laugh.
I guess I just find Paula's brand of "southern hospitality" so phony, although her food looks good. I find her too annoying to watch. I won't even get into her sons and their stupid "road trip eats" style show.

I think Paula is a phony, too. I just can't take her, or her sons, seriously. I will never understand why the food network took off Sara Moulton but left Paula on.

I love Paula and I say it's worth a shot, she's a great cook and I can't see how she would go from such an awesome show o an awful one, if the pilot is that bad by the viewers then I don't think they'd ruin her reputation by putting it on air.

You know what I love about this gutsy lady? She took what she knew and loved to do and turned it into something wonderful! Yes I love to cook, and I've been raising kids alone too, but I don't ever think I could have done what she's pulled off.
I think maybe I am a little envious and a tad bit jealous, but I wish her the very best!
Kudos to her! Yes she is truly a southern lady! She is not being phony, she is being herself, and the only phony thing I could ever think about her, is if she is having a bad as we all do, she puts a smile on to fool us once in a while.
I would love to meet her someday to chat, bake a cake, scramble some eggs or just have a cup of mud (southern slang for coffee! Just my opinion! I can't understand why people have to say hurtful things about someone! Just don't watch her if you don't care for her! Let the rest of us enjoy!

Love ya Paula.....The south rules and southern gals are the best in everything including cooking. We can whip it up in no time and it will taste like we cooked for days. That why i like Paula she cooks from scratch with fresh food and it is done in no time so you can enjoy your food and friends! Also she has a quality that keeps you interested in what she is doing. You either have it or you dont. Someone mentioned Sara being taken off........Good ,she was dry as toast!! LOL...........

I saw one of Paula`s programs recently and was deeply disappointed. She was doing a travel show in England and Paris and she was so ridiculously close minded for a food professional (if that`s what she is) Blood sausage anyone? Yuck says are host who is supposed to inspire us, not confirm the ugly unsophisticated American moniker that we are usually painted as. She is awful but then so is the food network so what should one expect???

I can not beleive the bad comments about Paula. What is there not to like about her? She is the best cook on the Food Network in my opinion and her recipes are easy to follow. She actually makes things me and my family will eat. I will watch her new show and I'm quite sure I will like it.

If you don't like her, simply move on. Don't begrudge the rest of us the pleasure of her feisty and eccentric personality! She is a joy and I will happily continue watching, supporting and purchasing her endorsements!! We love you Paula!!

I think the host is fine in her element--sharing the secrets of the Southern kitchen; but when she steps out of her element or tries to affect what she thinks is her charm, she loses appeal immediately. Watching her eat with her hands every dessert she bought at the patisserie or imposing herself in the park, I was digusted and I know the French didn't like it.

I think that the host has charm in her context - if she is sharing the old kitchen secrets of the south, fine; when she tries to affect her charm or hyperbolize her hickishness or steps out of her element, she loses all appeal immediately. Watching her eat with her hands every single confection she bought at the Paris patisserie and impose herself in the park on the player, I was disgusted.

I just checked out the website for her restaurant Lady and Sons. She calls herself a chef. She isn't a chef, is she? That's a rank of schooling and study, isn't it? I thought she was just a really good cook.

I am watching the new show by Paula Deen, and I find it refreshing. Not everyone believes that people can be so geniune in this day and age, but being from the south myself, be assured there are people just like her out there. I find it disappointing that people want to find something bad in something that is not foul mouthed and R or X rated. Thank you Paula Deen and your family.

I attended a taping of Paula's Party and, believe me, she is very genuine and down-to-earth. Between takes, she would visit different tables and talk - just like having a neighbor over for coffee. Love her!!

I love Paula Dean. For those who wish to complain about her southern qualities, than you don't know what hospitality is and maybe are a little to aloof to understand it. I sometimes am ashamed to say I'm from New York because they think we're all snobs and that's far from the truth.
