Chubby Hubby snapped this shot of a Full English breakfast while out to brunch with his wife, reviewing a restaurant. A Full English breakfast, also called a fry-up, is oily, fatty, filling and basically the perfect way to get breakfast started if you are one of the following: English, don't worry about cholesterol, or - according to a number of very insistent people - are trying to recover from a hang-over. The components of the meal will vary slightly from place to place, but they generally include almost all of the following: bacon, fried eggs, baked beans, sausages, tomatoes (fried), mushrooms (also fried), toast , juice and tea or coffee. Personally, I feel full just looking at this picture for too long, but if you're ever had a good fry up, or been at the table when one is served, you probably already know that the smell is good enough to overcome feelings of fullness. You might want to try whipping one up at home on a weekend morning, though you also might want to consider going for a little jog around the block before you do.

I've been to London, and trust me, the English version of breakfast is a real gut buster; make sure you're
not wearing a belt when you eat it. You'll definitely
have to loosen it a notch or two!

Nice picture, but far too many vegetables! What are those green bits? You do sometimes see fried mushrooms, but the only vegetable in a proper full English should be tomatoes, tinned, of course. And a bit of fried bread would be nice...
I prefer the far more deadly full Irish, which has all the components of the full English, plus black and white puddings, or even the Ulster fry, which is a full Irish, plus potato pancakes. A festival of lard on a plate!

The biggest impediment to a Full English Breakfast in the U.S. is lack of easy access to British bacon. The sausages there didn't do it for me, but the bacon is wonderful.

The Full English Breakfast I'd "enjoyed" (I use that term very lightly) also included fried bread. It was just deep-fried bread without any batter. It was, uh, kinda grody. But oddly satisfying.

Yep - definitely need fried bread, and black pudding. Mmmmm.
Not British, not bothered about cholesterol (but do try to avoid transfats) and can't even face a glass of water on a hangover!
