Hendrix Electric Vodka is named after - you guessed it - Jimi Hendrix. The super-premium grain vodka that is handmade in Idaho using a blend of corn and rye, then filtered through carbon and crystal to create a clean, pure flavor. All are packaged in elegant, angular bottles and it has been spotted at many star-studded events, impressive for a drink that was released only this year. Pomegranate and Habenero Pepper flavored vodkas will be making their debut this fall.
In addition to the flavored vodkas, the company released a limited edition run of 5,000 purple bottles, signed by drummer Buddy Miles, which is sure to become a collectors' item among Hendrix fans.
Hendrix Electric Tequila and Rum are next in the product line, though there is no release date for either as yet.

Does anyone besides me think this is in bad taste? Especially since Hendrix died due to a lifestyle that included alcohol and drug abuse. The guy choked on his own vommit. Doesn't put me in the mood for a cocktail...

truth be told I thought the bottles looked interesting at first until I thought "casket shaped" and I was all done. Anyone agree there?

I was innocently thumbing through a trendy LA magazine the other night, about to fall asleep, when I turned the page and saw the striking image above. At first I thought.. wow, that’s a beautiful photograph…Jimi Hendrix and his band really had it goin’ on…look at the clothes…look at the ‘fros…Jimi was such a fox…ooh the airplane in the background…how glamorous and rock and roll….(and then my eyes scanned to the right)…. OH MY GOD…it’s an ad for vodka?!? This is…appalling…this is so twisted…didn’t he die of drowning in his own.?…this is so sick!…I’m in shock…….(staring at the vodka bottle for a while)…..well, I guess the guy did like his booze…I suppose in a way this is sort of appropriate and…strangely compelling… I mean if someone is gonna sell you out after you die, your name and likeness may as well be hocking something that you obviously enjoyed and may have even approved of….still this is…in such bizarre taste that… (I realized)…I must own a bottle.

First of all, Jimi would, in my opinion, be happy to know he is being remembered in any way assuming he would really care what people think. Deep down don't we all care?? As far as his demise and any connection to alcohol, that would be like seeing people eat food to the point of morbidity and then thinking food has a bad taste because of its effects when abused. Whatever.
On the other end, I have enjoyed a few bottles myself. I am not a vodka drinker but Hendrix Vodka is Very Good. I enjoy mezcal because of its smokey, peppery flavor and in some ways this vodca is like that. Not your normal vodka. How about the mezcal of vodkas? I"ll drink a shot with ya!

This company & it's product (which is truly top notch) is the first to provide anything monetary wise to those who knew and loved Hendrix the most. The folks Hendrix loved most "including Hendrix's blood brother". Great job & kudos to them for doing what is way over due.
Hendrix's adopted step-sister who never actually knew Hendrix has made sure through hook or crook that she dominates & exploites the Hendrix leagcy to its fullist, if she is upset with this product it is only because she didn't think of it first. She in fact lacks the common decencey to "share anything" with the people Hendrix cared about most, and worse yet she lacks any real understanding of who Jimi was or what he was attempting to truly accomplish through his musical gift.
Also Hendrix did not die from alcohol, he died accidentally from a prescription overdose. In an ongoing attempt to cope with his abusive & exploitive management Hendrix sought to escape the mental drain & stress by consuming various substances. (which at the time was considered acceptable).
\
Sad that even in death he is still being exploited, this time by a woman posing as his family & if thats not bad enough she also represents herself as an expert in his life & times.

Jimi would have totally approved of his new vodka, he embraced expression of freedom, and lived outside the envelope. Negative people think negative things, positive people think of positive things.
Jimi was positive, he would be laughing at everyone who is so uptight about the use of his image........ and from what I've read, his brother Leon and other Hendrix band members are finally getting a slice of the financial pie they deserve.
Jimi Rock!!

Actually Leon and Buddy Miles both own part of Hendrix Electric Vodka and it's the only thing the real family ever got an ownership in! Hendrix was the biggest partying icon there ever was, he'd be happy his family was finally sharing in the legacy. It's only what you make it, smile ;)
