Chick-Fil-A is going big in California

chick fil aIf you actually live in southern California, you may not even know about it, but if you live anywhere else in the United States, particularly in the southeast, you know Chick-Fil-A, the chain of fast food restaurants that specializes in chicken sandwiches. Then again, even if you've never seen an actual Chick-Fil-A restaurant, you've probably seen the company's "Eat Mor Chikin" ad campaign.

According to the Press Telegram, the chain is making plans for a big push into California. Currently. Of the 1253 US locations, fewer than 20 are in California. In fact, in the Los Angeles area, there are only four, three of which are in mall/shopping centers: South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach, Los Cerritos Center, and the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance. The Long Beach on Carson Street is the only free-standing restaurant. Chick-Fil-A prefers to purchase the real estate rather than leasing space to build their restaurants.

President and COO Dan Cathy expects a dozen or so restaurants open by the end of 2007.

With no exceptions, this place is closed on Sundays.

And you are subjected to religious music. The parking lots are empty during lunch, and the drive-thru window has no waiting. They have a long swim up stream before they take any business away from In 'N Out Burger. But their lemonade is second only to Hot Dog on a Stick.

Consumers would simply drop a postcard in the mail to them every time they had a hankering to go to Chick-Fil-A on a Sunday. For me, it'd probably be 52 postcards a year. Stop imposing your beliefs on us, please!

I have often missed them being open on Sunday's, but that's fine by me if they want to stick to their beliefs. For the most part, I thought you had to be in a minority of some form or fashion to impose your beliefs on people. I wish, sooo many years ago when I worked at McDonald's, they did that. Not only would it have been nice to have the time off to spend with my family, it would have been nice to not have to work 7 days a week.

They taste great, and that is the bottom line to me, as it should be to the rest of anyone, unless you are one of those small minded people who accept the beliefs of others (be it from religion to politics) just because (no reason). I mean really, really, really? really? There are people out there that would do things because someone else does them without, not because they are intelligent enough to know that just because someone sponsors something doesn't mean you have to do it? Well, I know there are, I'm being a bit sarcastic, as I know they fall into the same category that didn't know there was sodium in processed foods, eating nothing but fast food was bad for you, and if you run around a wet pool, you are likely to fall! :)
