A 13-year-old girl in the U.K. beat several grown men in a corn-on-the-cob eating contest this week, setting a British record in the process. Emily Cotterill consumed 26 ears of corn in 20 minutes, watching while "male opponents began vomiting and dropping out." Her parents seemed proud of their daughter's achievement, and her father even remarked that he considered entering the contest, but did not think he would stand a chance against Emily.
Emily said that she felt a little ill after the competition, but it soon passed. She also noted that she probably wouldn't be eating corn again anytime soon, but did not make a comment indicating whether or not she was interested in pursuing a career as a competitive eater in the future.
At least she was eating something relatively healthy, and not brats or hot dogs.

Growing up, I lived on a farm and we often had corn-on-the-cob as a main dish over the summer. My sisters and I would have contests to see who could eat the most...I think our limit was 13 or 14 in 30 minutes. We all would say that we just ran out of corn at that time and we could have eaten more, but that was probably just for boasting reasons, haha.

Someone remarked that they wondered what the next morning would be like. Well, I hate to imagine. Since corn does not digest like other foods but goes straight through the system in 10-15 hours, I would guess the next morning would be filled with several yellow lumpy experiences. Yuck! Well, at least all that starch & fiber would clean everything out on the way!

When i was growing up, White Castle burgers were small square burgers served with onions and mustard and ketchup. They weren't like "eating 2 regular burgers". Times must have changed. And, oh by the way, they sucked but were popular cuz it was the closest thing to "fast food" back then. (Sure shows my age - McDonald's wasn't even a twinkle in Ronald's eye yet!!!) LOL
