In-car coffee makers

Even though it is dangerous to drive while eating or drinking, most morning commuters still want to have their coffee on the way to work. Car designers know this, which is why they install cup holders that are easy for the driver to reach. Audi took the idea a step further and designed their concept Roadjet with a fully-functional espresso machine (above left) on the arm rest between the driver and passenger seats. This enables the driver to get his or her caffeine fix without having to pull into a Starbucks, though hopefully they will wait until the car stops before pulling a shot.

One enthusiastic Audi fan couldn't resist making a mod with his own Audi and installed a Capresso 1500 (above right) in the back seat. It is securely tied down to the seat and is powered with an inverter that is mounted on the dash. It's also a bit safer than the Roadjet model because, since the machine is in the back seat, the driver cannot operate the machine while behind the wheel.

Let the weak die if they are to stupid to operate a car and a coffe pot at the same time while driving. Lets put more in the car.

The auto makers are contributing to the possibility of an accident by installing " STUPIDITY" into their cars. Driving requires undivided attention, not to be done while talking on the phone, eating, drinking coffee, etc.

Make it at home and bring it along on trips...what could be simplier?

P.S. Truckers do it!

This is even better than my reclining, vibrating-massage porta-potty I use when driving in city traffic. The mobile coffee maker will make a perfect accent to the mobile Habachi I have duct-taped to the dash board! Does anyone have ass-less leather pants to go with the coffee maker?

Brings to mind the obvious "caution, contains hot beverage" accident made famous a few years ago - when an elderly lady accidently spilled steeping java in her lap. In the more current situation, who would one sue if one accidently spilled one's morning brew on more than the seat...? The sippy-cup maker? Did it spill because of the liquid's near-molten tempature (now causing one to speak with a lisp), or because of another driver - reacting to their super-heated cup of Joe that he (or she, as the case may be) just purchased at the local Dunkin Donuts...?!

The portable/mobile urinal is a neat ("sic" - not sick... look it up) concept, but not universally practical. Neither is the vibrating orgasmic auto seat offered by a Japanese designer a few years ago. I'd rather reach my destination in one piece - and forgo the trip to the hospital because of some other driver's commuter trip to Nervana-ah-ah-aAHHHHH!!! ...Crunch!

It had a case for it to sit in with little cups and containers for cream and sugar. We used it once because it was a real mess to deal with grounds, water, etc. Making coffee at home and using a thermos or coffee mug is a much better idea.

Furthermore, I don't think this device would function well in California or other hilly areas. I mean, gravity would cause the stream of boiling coffee to spill all over when you're practically verticle on regular roads in the valley. The cup needs to be higher to solve that issue.

I know they expect people to have decency, and common sense when using this, but look how people mistreat the rules of the road as it is.

I liked the idea some one was hinting at above about making a law that you have to pull over to use your phone (unless in heavy traffic). So nothing like that's been in the rule book before, but when they were written, the cellphone hadn't been invented yet, and I believe it needs some updating.

Who's to say the driver has to make the coffee? We had it for vacation, taking long trips when we couldn't find a Starbucks along the roadside! I made coffe,... he drove..... seemed perfect, if it had worked!
