What can you do with wonton wrappers? One option is to use them to make wontons, of course, but the plain pieces of pasta-like dough can be used for many other things, too. Traditional uses include making potstickers and egg rolls, but there are many other options, too. The most inventive use for wontons has to be edible origami croutons. Evil Mad Scientist has an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide showing how to fold tiny cranes out of the wrappers, in just the same way that you would do for a regular paper crane. The cranes are then deep fried and can be used as croutons in a salad or as a garnish for another dish. If you coat the freshly-fried cranes in a cinnamon sugar mixture, they can be used to garnish a dessert, as well.
