This is the part where I plug my ears and mumble "bacon is healthy, bacon is healthy, bacon is healthy." Swedish researchers have reviewed 15 different studies and concluded that eating an extra ounce of salted or smoked meat a day can increase the risk of developing stomach cancer by 15 to 38 percent. The data comes from figures taken from over 4,000 individuals in the last 40 years, Reuters reported. The study appears in the current issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. An abstract is available here.

Your body, mind and spirit will love the taste, the good nutritional stuff (yes, an increasing number of studies will validate "good fats"), plus you'll be supporting local farmers who care enough about animals to put them out on range land and bypass Big Agribusiness and all the middlemen food processors who put the junk into food in the first place. Nature didn't invent any of that stuff and doesn't want you to eat and suffer from it.

I hope people realize that this includes BBQ'ed meat on your grill. The BBQ/ Grill is something that is always over-looked, and I sincerely would like to point this out.
My grandmother died from stomach cancer, and let me tell you, it was not a pretty sight. She used to love eating everything a little "well done" - everything always had that slightly charred taste. The Doctors said that that is exactly what did her in.

Doesnt keep in the fridge long though. here in teh south you can get it at most meat markets sliced how you would like. Thats what I miss about Jersey and going to the neigborhood butcher. They had German bolgna to die for!
