No, this isn't just a meat cake because it has a T-bone steak in the icing. This is actually three layers of meatloaf and ketchup glaze frosted with mashed potatoes. So far, it's the only thing posted at BlackWidowBakery.com. The meat cake's creator says it was made for the wedding of friend who wanted "A guy's cake. Like..made out of meat." The meatloaf recipe looks pretty standard, as does the glaze. The mashed potatoes came from flakes, however, to ensure a smooth frosting. The results were "delicious" according to the baker. I wonder what the groom thought.

I am torn between "Eew, gross..." and "Mmm... I want meatloaf for dinner."
Very nice job making it look cake-y, however!

i've always thought a horrible idea would be to market 'M-8'....a variation of V-8, but with eight meats. blended up.
imagine the taste. well, and the colour.

jbd, that's funny you say that! my girlfriend just made me this cake for my birthday a few weeks ago! i knew she was making a 'cake', but didn't know what kind. when she revealed it to me, i was kind of far away, and it looked like a regular cake. then when i got closer, i was like "what's with the frosting?" she also sprinkled the top of the cake with peas. unlike the one pictured above, her's was a two-layer cake, with mashed potatoes between layers.
it took me a week to finish the whole thing.

Hey jbd, no reason to wait on a boy to make this for, I know alot of meat and potatoe eating girls. Throw yourself a bone and make it for yourself and a girlfriend. Imagine the laughs you'll generate when you serve it.

linda: actually, i don't eat meat and neither do any of my girlfriends -- but, yet, i've never dated a vegetarian. hence, the "find a boy to date" comment. ;)

Man, I'd LOVE for a girl to make me one of those. Unfortunately I'd feel kinda silly if I was the only one eating it. You gotta share the experience of something like that.
This kinda reminds me of something a friend made. It was a mockery of them magnetic ribbons people stick on their cars. It was to support meat and was a "ribbon" of bacon. It was neat lookin, I wish I had saved the image. I wonder if they still have it...
