I actually don't find this picture to be delicious, and I love strawberry pie. The berries look so pale and sad.

The pie does not look fresh or tempting. could have picked better strawberries. Also the filling is very runny. No amount of whipped cream can fix that pie!

Wow, those comments sting! Anyway, I went and adjusted the color...but I can assure you, the pie was fan-TASTIC. Let's see MG and Isca's version...LOL

That crust is simply beautiful. I must admit though, I'm not a fan of cooked strawberries (unless it's the jam or preserves variety). I prefer a graham cracker crust and fresh strawberries that have been macerating in sugar. But, thats me.

The recipe calls for cooking the strawberries. Ugh! Cooked strawberries often taste downright awful - unless you cook the hell out of them and turn them into jam. Surely this would have been far better if the fresh strawberries were added after the crust had finished cooking.

I have to agree with the other posters. This looks more like a pepperoni pizza. I thought that's what it was at first.
A true Strawberry Pie should have fresh, uncooked strawberries, a homemade strawberry & sugar sauce to go over it, and fresh whipped cream.

Nothing beats FRESH uncooked strawberry pie, and it's unbelievably easy to make. Pre-bake your pie crust; once it has cooled, slice a mountain of fresh cleaned organic berries into the pie crust; make a nice blend of Agave Nector and crushed strawberries (a cup and a half is way enough to cover and sweeten the berries in the pie). Top each messy slice (these rarely slice neatly -- but who cares!) with a huge spoonfull or two of very lightly sweetened whipped cream (I use heavy whipped cream, a little orange extract or rosewater instead of vanilla, super fine sugar or birch sugar, whip it until it is just soft). Voila!!! My mouth is watering at the thought... You can do the same with peaches, nectarines, or any fresh berries, or mix of berries, peaches, nectarines. Fresh, rather than cooked, is so very, very yummy that you'll never want a baked strawberry pie again.

As for the cooked versus uncooked berry comments, my personal philosophy of life is "Don't Yuck Someones Yum." It's a good catch all, and certainly applies here.

They just don't appreciate cooked strawberry pie. I've been fantasizing about making your pie all afternoon, but the nearest store didn't have strawberries. Maybe later...
