Meow-Berry is a real flavor of Pop Tarts

meow berry hello kitty pop tartAs much as I would love to hate the enormous-headed, mouthless femme feline, I can't. I think it's all her cute clothes. Or something.

However, I just about fell out of my seat when I came across this photo of Hello Kitty branded Pop-Tarts at Food and Thoughts, a food blog out of Copenhagen, Denmark. Really now, I appreciate that Hello Kitty and Sanrio do their business by licensing their brand, but Pop Tarts?!?! I guess you could toast your HK pop tarts in an HK toaster, and wash it all down with water from your HK water cooler.

Or maybe it's just that the flavor is "Meow-Berry." I have no idea what Meow-Berry would taste like - a strawberry cat? The real question is, though, how many other flavors of Hello Kitty Pop Tarts are there, and what are they?!

My local Key Food in Brooklyn carries these - I couldn't resist, and bought a box (much to my husband's embarassment) -- they're not good - a generic berry...as if they just combined the leftovers of ALL of their other "berry" flavors. Of course, nothing can top Cherry Pop-Tarts, but this doesn't come close.

There was a "Star Wars" flavor last yeaar, an "Ice Age" flavor earlier this year, a "Cars" flavor I believe, and I have eaten some sort of "Barbie Princess" oriented flavor. All these flavors are basically the "Wild Berry" flavor redressed, which is one of my favorites. There should be some sort of website tracking all these variations...

Sara, why are you so surprised that Hello Kitty is on a Pop Tart? any cereal or snack aimed at kids is perfect for licensing. i'll tell you, Hello Kitty has been on much stranger merchandise, much stranger...
