When Nicole posted about Chicago's proposed city-wide ban on the use of trans fats in restaurants, she suggested that fast food restaurants would feel the strongest effects of the ban. Now the Chicago alderman that proposed the ban has limited it to only major restaurant chains, specifically those with at least $20 million in annual gross sales, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The ban was apparently revised out of concerns that smaller independent restaurants could not afford the switch to pricier non-hydrogenated oils. Some feel that the ban is a positive move, while others still feel that their aldermans' time would be better spent on things other than cooking oil and foie gras.Chicago trans fat ban revised

i'm still against this. it's not a question of health, it's a question of why is this councilman so concerned about what people eat? why doesn't he focus more on things that really matter? i'm sure there are many other issues, including education, local government spending, etc, that he could focus on, that would have more of an impact on the lives of citizens.

Obviously this man must be coming up for re-election. Why else would he be picking a topic that would get him such notoriety? My suggestion to the man - Get the heck outta people's foods and back into things that should concern you!
Stupid grandstanding politicians

If we allow the fast food businesses to kill us in order to save money, they will do it. We are stupid to allow this. We need more healthy choices. Other countries have smartened up. It's time for us to stand up for our food supply.
