You can't go to picnic, a pool party, or a BBQ without seeing at least one pasta salad. It's easy to make. It's easy to transport. It's not a huge health hazard if you watch the mayo. It tastes pretty good, too.
Now I hate posting a "recipe" for something like a pasta salad, as it seems almost like posting a recipe for making cold breakfast cereal - it's mostly common sense. Nonetheless, I am putting the ingredients for the Forza Italia! pasta we ate during the World Cup finals. Perhaps it will serve as a source of inspiration, if nothing else.
Sarah's Forza Italia! Penna Pasta
Toss hot cooked penna pasta with enough pesto to suit your personal picky taste. Add a few handfuls of fresh pea pods cut on the bias to match the shape of the penne (details, my friends, details!), a handful of cherry tomatoes cut into quarters, and fresh perle bufala mozzarella.
Now, wasn't that fun?
