I am a big fan of Tastykakes, but they are in limited supply here in California, so I tend to pick up an extra box or two when I travel back to the Philadelphia area and tuck them into my freezer for safekeeping when I get home. One of the newest products available to Tastykakes fans is Tastykake ice cream. Made with Turkey Hill Ice Cream, there are three decadent flavors to choose from. The Peanut Butter Kandy Kake flavor has vanilla ice cream with cake pieces, chocolate chips and swirls of peanut putter and fudge. The Oatmeal Raisin Bar is cinnamon ice cream with pieces of Tastykake Oatmeal Raisin Bars and plump, juicy raisins. The newest flavor offered, a limited edition, is Chocolate Cupcake, which has milk chocolate ice cream with chocolate cupcake pieces and a chocolate icing swirl. Frosting in ice cream? Now that sounds like the recipe for a sugar rush!
Unfortunately, I don't think that the ice cream is doing to hold up as well as the snack cakes do in my suitcase. I guess I'll have to wait to try these for myself, but if anyone has had them, let us know what they taste like in the comments - they all sound delicious!

The Peanut Butter Kandy Kake is incredible. It's literally like eating a frozen PB Kandy Kake. This ice cream has been out for a while now--I picked it up a few months ago. I always have it in my freezer now--it's great for a few midnight spoonfuls!

I tried the chocolate cupcake last month, and it was simply heavenly. I really diddn't think that they would be able to capture the essence of those tasty little morsels in an ice cream...but they did. It was chocolatey - but not rich. Exactly like a Tastykake. I most definately give it two thumbs up, and am looking forward to trying the other varieties.

quite possibly one of the best ice cream falvors i have ever had.it'sgot bits of cupcake and the frosting allswirled in. man!good stuff!

Being from New Jersey originally, I, too, am a Tastykake fan. I have a friend who brings krimpets back to me in Boston from his trips to N.J., then I freeze them. Ummm, Krimpet Ice Cream.

I've tried the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie one - it's actually frozen yogurt, not ice cream. Tastes just like an oatmeal raisin cookie! Although the raisins-in-ice cream thing is just a bit weird, it's still quite good.
Now, if they just had a butterscotch krimpets flavor...
