What do biggy sizes at Wendy's have to with trans fats?

nothing. they were just linking to the last post they had that involved wendy's, since the article in this post referred to wendy's.

this proposed ban is preposterous. it's not that i'm "for" trans-fats, but how can a city attempt to ban something like this? it's trans fats now, then what? they ban barbecued or flame-broiled items, because i could contain carcinogens if it burned? hell, just go back to prohibition, and ban alcohol, because we know that a prolonged consumption of alcohol can lead to liver problems, and perhaps death. my favorite part of this article was this statement from the spokesman from the Center for Science in the Public Interest:

"Partially hydrogenated oils probably kill 50,000 Americans per year prematurely."

probably? oils DO NOT kill people. conditions arising from the excessive consumption of hydrogenated oils, combined with genetics, may kill people. but the last time i checked, a stick of margarine, or a piece of fried chicken, never killed anyone.

tr - the aldermen in my city have nothing better to do. It's really the stupidest idea yet. I apologize, please do not hold our governers' ideas against us :)

Banning trans fats is a GOOD THING. No one should be ingesting these fats (butter is actually better for you than margarine, believe it or not!), and there are EASY alternatives. It just takes a little prodding for restaurants to get off their butts and make the switch.

Moderating or even eliminating one's intake of transfats may be a good thing, but banning transfats is NOT a good thing. This is food nazism. It's government meddling where it does not belong!
