Ogo Water is a fairly new bottled water product from the Netherlands. With a 35 times higher concentration of oxygen than regular water, it promises a boost of energy, or at least 35 times more oxygen than you had before. The manufacturers call it "The Breathing Water." Apparently, the burst of oxygen in each bottle of OGO will increase your body's oxygen saturation - how this is accomplished by drinking however, is beyond me.
The water is available in still, sparkling, and a lightly flavored "Flower Power," with elderflower and lychee. It looks like Ogo is currently available in Australia and the UK, and will be distributed in the US by Verve Brands, LLC.

I'm with Tristan on this one - Marion Nestle's new book has a great chapter on how bottled water is neither good nor bad for anyone, just expensive. I still think all the Slashfoodies should read it.

The purported effects of "super-oxygenated" water have been completely unsupported in all reputable peer-reviewed studies. What's more, the entire concept is laughable. It IS possible to pump up water's oxygen concentration under pressure, but in any case, in a full bottle you're talking about less oxygen than is contained in one breath of air. Plus, as Tristan points out, your lungs are very good at absorbing oxygen. Your GI system? Not so much.
So, yeah... shenanigans.

Then there's OxyFacial which is a water spray with added oxygen - another con. This will cost you a cool $50 for 30g of fizzy water at retail. You're probably better off fanning your face with the bill than wasting it on the spray.
When will the outlandish ideas stop? I guess when additional bio-available oxygen will stop a snowball melting in hell.

I'm most amused by the people who will go out of their way to buy expensive anti-oxidant food, pills, drinks, whatever, and then turn around and buy equally expensive oxygenated water, canned oxygen, and oxygenated hand soap. Somebody wasn't paying attention in chemistry class.
