Kashi launches frozen dinners

All you Kashi fans will be glad to know that Kashi is planning to launch a line of frozen entrees soon. According to a recent press release, the meals will be mostly chicken-based, with a few shrimp- and bean-based entrees as well. As you might expect, there'll be plenty of grains, and multi-grain pastas. The frozen dinners are supposed to hit shelves sometime next month. Now, now, contain your enthusiasm. You can wait a few weeks. There's still no word on whether the new entrees will have the same mug-shot covered boxes and colon-scrubbing properties as the other Kashi products.

Would you provide manufacturer's coupons to sample these new products?

These are $3.49 where I shop, so they're not much more than Lean Cuisine and seem to be more satisfying for dinners, so I buy them for days I'm short on time.

I love the whole grains, they are so much tastier, filling and nutritious than the bland white rice that comes in other frozen entrees. The inside flap listed an e-mail address to complete a 10 minute survey and receive a coupon for a free entree. I was unable to access this site. Please e-mail me with instructions.

YUUUUMY!
PLEASE PLEASE do not add salt -- let people add their own salt -- this is why I liked it so much, so much less sodium and a much "fresher" taste and more wholesome ingredients...WONDERFUL! just PLEASE -- LOWER THE PRICE! (i could only afford the ones i bought b/c i had a coupon)

Just to clarify, Slashfood is not affiliated with Kashi. Therefore, I don't know how to obtain coupons or how to prepare their frozen dinners in a conventional oven. I would suggest directing your questions to Kashi.com.

I make NO claim that this is the proper way to cook these meal, simply saying it worked out well. I cooked the Black Bean Mango and the Lime Cilantro Shrimp Meals. Here's what I did. Heat the oven to 350. Place a length of tin foil (about 12") onto a cookie sheet. Remove the meal from its packaging and place on the tin foil. Pull the two ends together to meet at the middle and fold closed. Roll the other two ends closed. Open the original fold slightly to allow for steam release (just as you would pull back the top film on the original packaging). Place the meal in the oven and cook for 40 minutes. The veggies stayed pretty crisp and all other ingredients cooked well. The shrimp was a little tough, but tasted fresh. Best of luck!
