Chicken and pesto pasta is simple

grilled chicken and pesto pasta

I've learned now that the beauty of pesto that it is simple. The flavor of the pesto itself relies on nothing more than the extreme freshness of the ingredients, and heck, you don't even have to use any major appliances to make it (mortar and pestle works better than a Cuisinart, I've heard), let alone cook the actual pesto.

Since the pesto is simple, using it is simple as well. All you have to do it toss it together with some cooked pasta, throw in some grilled chicken, and you're good to go.

This entry is so weak, I still think that I'm missing gomething in this report, like a link or a recipe. Are you seriously writing just to inform readers that they can add some chicken to pesto?! Wow! What next, some breaking news about how we could add some tomato to our grilled cheese sandwiches?

Now, if you also threw in some sun-dried tomatoes, spinach leaves or broccoli, and suggested using whole-grain pasta, you could have been describing a more interesting meal. PLUS you could have made a link to your previous post about foods that fight cancer (cruciferous and dark leaf vegetables, garlic, tomatoes, whole grains, etc.). As it is, the "File under: . . . Vegetables" is also an inappropriate tag: the garlic and herbs hardly measure up to a single serving of veggies.

Pesto is one of those things that goes with almost everything; like garlic butter, or sour cream, or ranch dressing, or caramelized onions. (At least in terms of savory dishes, that is. Sweet dishes are another matter.) I guess the common theme there is more or less dairy plus a member of the genus "allium".
Any other ideas about things like pesto - that go with almost everything?
