Well, duh. We love cookbooks.
Adam, the super hilarious voice of the Amateur Gourmet, has put together a great post, Cookbook Awards, in which he gives out awards to his cookbooks. The individual award categories are cute, but it's the description of why the book won the award that is really helpful because it's infinitely better to find out about a cookbook from someone who uses it, than from the marketing blurb on Amazon.com.
He gives out five "Desert Island" Awards, cookbooks that Adam would want to have with him on a deserted island. They are: The Gourmet Cookbook, Chez Panisse Cooking, The Babbo Cookbook, The Gift of Southern Cooking, and a fifth place tie for Cooking for Mr. Latte and Sunday Suppers at Lucques. And there are lots of honorable mentions, too.
