In-N-Out, cooked to order

I, like so many other people, always assumed that In-N-Out burgers only came one way: well done. The vast majority of fast food burgers are served this way and, while I don't mind the odd crisp edge that appears on well-cooked burgers, many fast food fans lament the lack of juiciness in their meat. Lament no more, In-N-Out fans. According to a post on A Hamburger Today, you can get your burgers cooked medium-rare or rare at In-N-Out restaurants. Someone who identified himself as an In-N-Out associate told them that all you have to do is let the person taking your order know that you want it cooked to a certain doneness.

A fresh, delicious and extra juicy fast food burger? Quick - someone stop by In-N-Out for lunch and try this out. We want to know if it's true!

My experience at In n Out, as well as others I've spoken to, is that the burger is delivered brown on the outside and RAW on the inside, even if you ask for well done. They simply don't have the time to wait for the burger to get fully cooked. I don't admire their risking food poisoning like this. Its a shame cause although I like their product, I've stopped going there because of this.

First of all the chances of you getting food poisoning from beef is extremely rare, especially because of all the safeguards in place today. You are more likely to get sick from someone not washing their hands after going to the bathroom or transmitting an illness through poor hygiene than getting it through beef.

Secondly, I might agree with you about ordering a burger medium rare at a regular fast food place like McDonalds, but this is In-n-Out. These guys have different standards. Everything is fresh as it can be. I trust them implicitly.

It does slow down their operation. If everyone ordered it cooked to their specs, the industry would have to re-brand itself as the "almost fast food industry", but this should not stop you from getting the burger you want.
