After a week of summer vacation and trying to feed anywhere from four to five constantly ravenous teenaged boys everyday, I lost it. For six consecutive days I trudged to the grocery store stocking up on boy friendly foods, and spent the greater part of my food budget on the ungrateful oafs. In an effort to combat this problem, we decided to use our new Costco membership card and make the trek to the land of economy sized packages.
A Costco visit is no small effort on our part since we must drive about 175 to the nearest store; but when I weighed the one time trip against standing in the grocery line everyday while my toddler tried to pull everything within reach off the shelves, it seems like a swell idea.
I was not quite prepared for the floor to ceiling merchandise that awaited us. The building seemed to be about 5 stories high and it was stocked to the tip top with gigantic, plastic wrapped pallets of food. But it wasn't only food. There baby onesies, huge Slip N' Slides, immense canisters of vitamins, tires and a vision clinic. Yes, I have been shopping before; I'm not that much of a bumpkin. But the audio and visual stimulation were enough to make me forget exactly why we were there. Good thing we had a list because otherwise I would have likely lingered in the beauty area and bought giant packs of facial cream and mascara; and I don't think the teen boys would feel comfortable indulging in that.
But shop we did. The hunting and gathering experience of acquiring so many large boxes of waffles, edamame, corn dogs, yogurts and fruit leather left me absolutely giddy. Now my pantry shelves are stocked and ready for the onslaught of hungry boys.

and then there are the 'hospitality industry' Costcos...they have reasonable priced restaurant stuff...
