For the article titled The New York Diet, New York magazine asked a sample of five New Yorkers to write down everything they ate for a week. The project was meant as a small comparison to the book Everything I Ate, which is one New Yorker's photo diary of everything he ate for a year.
Overall, the piece is fascinating, and I think that part of the appeal of reading through these lists is the same thing that keeps people reading food blogs: you get to eat vicariously through someone else's writing/photography. You also get to learn a few things about the lifestyle of the person you're reading about. For example, I learned that the 10th grader's diet was pretty frightening, with lots of candy and fast food, and also noticed that New Yorkers generally eat dinner later than I do.
I couldn't help but wonder what our diets would look like if we wrote everything down. I've heard this method endorsed by weight-loss groups, as it is supposed to make you more aware of what you're eating. As an experiment, I wrote down everything I ate yesterday. Admittedly, not one of my more interesting days, but you get the idea. Anyone else want to participate? Leave it in the comments!

Yikes.
I track what I eat, but, as I said, I try to pay attention to my nutrition (and am counting calories in an effort to reduce my body fat).

Still, the one that made my stomach turn the most, was the Executuve. Kudos for how often he drinks water but ... a stick of gum constantly, throughout the day? He must look like a cow walking around chewing his cud constantly, his jaw constantly grinding. What a complete turn off.

Oh well, I'm probably just saying that because I am fifteen years old, but I eat a mostly healthy diet (and a breakfast, also), and for what is lacking, I make up by constantly taking dance classes.

it's been fascinating (for me) to watch how my eating habits have changed over the years, especially as i've developed (some) cooking skills and began gardening. and yes, mountain dew is still a diet staple for me. ;)
