Some blogs just talk about food, but others go into great detail with recipes and general issues they encounter. I'm not talking about politics here (even though I won't deny it that it can come up from time to time), but about issues with food and eating that anyone can relate to. For example, Jennifer, of Vegan Lunchbox, is in a position that many parents find easy to relate to, as she prepares different (and hopefully both appealing and reasonably healthy) meals for her son's school lunches. Some bloggers mention struggling with weight loss and some just want to bake more cookies.
These are all great reads with great photography and, if you're interested, offer up some recipes that are worth trying - whether you're a vegan or not.
-
Vegan lunchbox: As I mentioned above, this chronicles the daily lunchboxes - as healthy, balanced, tasty and creative - as Jennifer can come up with for her son. She's also working on a cookbook and shares some good recipes.
- Vegan Feast Kitchen: This site is a particular favorite of mine, since Bryanna Clark Grogan is a very talented chef who has shared many, many recipes over the years in her newsletter and in her cookbooks. Does vegan cooking sound easy enough to make "talented" sound like an understatement? Think again. She recently devised a vegan angel food cake.
- 3. Bunnyfoot: This blog isn't completely vegan because Rae will occasionally use eggs or other animal products when baking to get better results when she has a particular sweet in mind. She's dubbed herself a "sweegan."
4. What the hell does a vegan eat anyway: Few recipes will be found here, but the blog has be chronicling vegan meals since 2002 and will continue to do so as long as people want to know what it is that vegans do eat.
5. Fat free vegan kitchen: A lot of people want to eat as healthily as they can and Susan happens to be doing it while vegan. Not everything is entirely fat free, but she does try to use only naturally occurring (e.g. nuts, olives, etc.) fat sources most of the time.
6. Let's Get Sconed: If you imagine vegan food to be nuts and berries, most of the posts on this site - which has great photos - will disprove that notion. From chili to cupcakes, everything looks delicious.
7. Vegan-licious: This blog keeps it simple with the food blogging basics - recipes and pictures. What's not to like?
8. Vive le Vegan: This site is run by Dreena Burton, who authored a vegan cookbook by the same name. She publishes recipes, tips and tons of links to reviews of recipes and comments from readers.

I've been reading Vegan Lunchbox for awhile now, though I'm not a vegan myself. She does a great job of creating interesting, palatable meals that are kid-friendly. I've tried some of the recipes on my two-year-old and he loves most of them. It's not easy to understand what it is that kids like, but Jennifer seems to have it down. I'd be glad to have half of her creativity.
