Tea-based summer Frappuccinos

Starbucks has two new flavors rolling out to its US stores this summer, both based on tea and not on milk/cream, like their other frappuccinos. The first flavor is pomegranate, which is a blend of juice concentrate and green tea. The second is a tangerine-lime flavor, a blend of tea, tangerine and orange juices with a hint of lime. There is even a new "tea blended" category on their website, but no drinks have been added to it as of yet.

It's nice to see something a bit lighter on the menu, not to mention that this will be a big plus for non-dairy drinkers. The drinks sound extremely refreshing, but they also sound like a rerelease of the old Tiazzi and Tazoberry drinks, which were fruity tea frappuccinos as well. Of course, they didn't come in either of these flavors - though citrus, berry and mango all saw some time on the menu board - but the principle is the same.

As a big fan of those older drinks, I'm definitely glad to hear that these are being added to the summer lineup at Starbucks.

My entire family adored the Tazo Citrus and Tazo Berry drinks--very very refreshing, delicious. When they diappeared from our local Starbucks, we all wrote several letters both to Starbucks and the Tazo Tea Company to no avail. Even asked the local barristas to try to make one for us, but without the concentrate the juice/tea tended to separate from the ice, and the texture was bad, the taste weak. We will be lining up for these new drinks as soon as we see them on the menu!

Secondly,
Woah Ray. Lots of hatrid for American there eh? First off I know many people who are overweight and aren't Starbucks lovers or are in debt. Maybe you are speaking from personal experience. Went a little caffine crazy on the card eh?

It wouldn't even make most people's list of the top 100 me thinks!!! Does this have possibly anything to do with the fact that you missed the old investment opportunity....like the other 99% of us?? I justify my monthy Starbuck's habit by putting aside an equal amount of $$ that goes direct deposit to the United Way. If you don't like it, don't buy it...but also look at our countries "double standard" and sense of "entitlement" as more compelling reasons why other countries people think badly of Americans. No matter how you look at it...we are still the best country in the world!!

Then the tazo's went by the way side I too vented my fellings about this. They tried to tell me the strawberries and cream frap was comprable but in no way comes close to comparing. It is more like a milk shake than any tiazzi or tazo drink ever was. I like most of their coffee drinks but at certain times of the year certain drinks suite you better.

Lynette and Jess I couldn't agree with your posts more.

Americans are not hated because of their waist lines or their debt or their coffee consumption habbits. We are hated because as a country we are always trying to mediate, and also because we as a country have what other countries wish they had, that their governments are denying them. Their leaders hate our government because their citizens want what we have and the pressure is on to deliver which they don't want to do because it will in turn limit their power and control.

Those who don't like it can go else where. I heard that two to three cups of,either coffee or tea, lowers the risk of heart disease. To beat all.

I for one am glad to see an American enterprise that started with next to nothing expand. Plus they are employee and environmentally conscious. What more could you want?

I know that everyone wants to bash starbucks but they really are employee and community conscious they have so many programs to help interact with the community and to help their employees. They are so great for the american economy, yes people probably do spend too much money on their drinks, but if those people didn't spend the money where would they get the energy and that extra boost to do the work they do. Right. It sucks that a little announcement to promote new drinks has turned into something so political. If you have your reservations about starbucks visit their corporate website and join in on their community involvement.

And another thing, nothing pisses me off more than people who are against corporations. don't u know that every busines that starts out has the goal of becomming the next wal-mart or starbucks, but just because they don't do well with their customers, they play out the mom and pops card. well, i say, give me my starbucks over any crappy "alternative" cafe anytime.

Also, I love and support America, but if you haven't checked, we won't be the top dogs pretty soon. With all the national debt, obesity, and just general lazy-ness, other countries are gonna beat us out. The US dollar is dropping in value all over the world. Anyways, go Starbucks!
