The Superbowl: KFC's new chicken/potato/cheese/gravy concoction

While watching the Pistons play the Cavs this weekend, I couldn't help but see (sadly, several times!) the commercial for KFC's attempt to get in on the bowl trend (about two years too late, mind you) with the Cheesy Chicken Mashed Potato Bowl. Apparently, this thing is mashed potatoes, then gravy, then corn, then fried chicken pieces, then grated cheddar cheese.

Some have deemed it the "Cardiac Arrest Bowl."

Various forums, meanwhile, are abuzz with questions like "do cheese and gravy mix?"

For me, it's never simply a question of "is it tasty?" For me, it's a question of "is it tasteful?"

I can't help but wonder what other products are awaiting us in the coming years:

  • The Thanksgiving Dinner Bowl: base of yams, then cranberry paste, then turkey, then gravy, then pumpkin pie, and finally a dollop of Cool Whip
  • The 21st Birthday Bowl: base of 6 french fries, then Irish Car Bomb, then 6 watermelon shooters, and finally gyro sandwich
  • The Bachelor Bowl: base of microwave pizza, then leftover Chinese take-out, then salsa, finally finished by whatever's still in the "Crisper" drawer

I mean c'mon, take all the ingredients that you have, and layer it in some differernt way and then BAM! you got a new dish. Why not just add a tortilla to it and get at least 10 more variations. After listing the ingredients she replied with "I think I've missed something". I thought to myself, after listing all those ingredients it amazes me how you did. Then I replied with, you know.. those "delicious" ingredients are probably from last nights left overs they didnt sell. Anything for a profit I suppose.

I loved the meld of flavors...bonus(or to my detriment..i don't want to know how much sodium it contains) it didn't need any additional seasonings!!! You go KFC!!!

No, cheese and gravy do not normally mix. At least not without the use of mass quantities of antacids.

There was once a breakfast pizza trend. I liked the one made of biscuit dough and topped with scrambled eggs, sausage and gravy. I accidentally bought the wrong one once and nearly gagged on the combination of gravy and cheddar cheese.

Leave this one to the few individuals in America whose taste buds have never functioned at all.

For the amount they charge for this culmination of food items lying around the KFC kitchen this appears to be very expensive relative to the cost of the components. I would also assume the chicken used is not "The Good Stuff".
