It seems like more and more businesses that do home-delivery of prepared foods are popping up. I'm not sure if the market is demanding it because people are too busy to cook at home, or if these businesses are simply supplying it because they think it's a good idea.
One of the most recent hone-delivery services I've come across is Vegin' Out in Los Angeles, which targets a specific niche - vegan. The service delivers three servings of each of the eight dishes on the menu that changes every week. Food is delivered cold, and if you're not home, then they will leave the food in a cooler that you leave out for them. The foods are to be reheated, and can be frozen for later use.
Has anyone tried these home delivery services? Which ones? How do you like them? Ever since the online grocery delivery debacle of years ago, I don't think I've ever been able to trust that these food delivery services work.

Although I understand catering for special occasions, I still can't grasp the concept and rationale for regular home delivery of already-prepared foods.
On the other hand, if people can afford it and trust those who prepare and pack the food, then I say go for it. I have not yet resorted to using such service.

I work for a organic foods delivery service (a Canadian company, though we do have a Seattle website at spud.com) - we deliver organic produce and a bunch of grocery products and try to order as local as possible to provide local farmers with a market year round. We do some prepared meals, but it's the produce that's the staple - we get it a few times a week, it doesn't really sit around in a warehouse.
How it works depends on what customers' lifestyles... some folks are super organized, love local food, are adventurous cooks, and order really regularly. Others order once in a while, or for special occasions, some realize they prefer shopping. Depends on the city too, how far people have to travel to get organic foods (like at our Calgary location), or if there's already a dense city centre with markets, etc. (Seattle).
I gotta say not lugging home toilet paper and milk bottles is a plus, if you take transit.

I'm at my office about 10 hours a day, and being a bachelor, I have nither the time nor the inclination to cook for myself. This service works perfectly because it's the easiest way to eat healthy with a schedule like mine. I also got my dad to use them because he needed to lower his cholesterol. I highly recommend this service...vegan or not.
